"So there we were, hanging out on a Saturday night with nothing to do. Hey, I says, why don't we head down to Skaters' World and see the greatest ska band of all time? No, dude, says Mike, our sax player, we aren't on the bill tonight. Haha. Just kidding. I am really referring to, of course, the amazing and consistantly danceable Toasters. While this was not the best time I've seen them play, this show was a great event. First up was the Derringers. I've heard tell that they were on the bill because the Toasters insisted upon it. If so, that's great for them. Anyway, they aren't really my style of music, seeing as how they draw heavily from blues and a lot of their songs really follow the blues format. However, I would have to say they played well, and they received a respectable reception from the crowd. Next up was one of my favorite local bands, Day 19. I can tell that Day 19 is a good band because I can still remember some of the songs that they played. A lot of times, it seems that many bands have songs that just sort of run together. With Day 19, this is not the case. They served up their usual dose of ska/pop/punk. I particularly like the Harmonica song. I wish I had written that. They really whipped the crowd into a frenzy, and that was both good and bad. It's nice to have the kids into it. But it's really hard to dance when you have a bunch of 9th graders slamming into you. That's not Day 19's fault, of course, but it kind of tainted my enjoyment of their set."

"It had to be done. After any local Toaster's show, one must review it. Anyhow, I would first like to congratulate the Derringers and Day 19 on not only two wonderful performances, but for landing a show with *the* greatest ska band of all time. The street outside Skater's World was covered with people, and the line took about 20 minutes to get in for some (not me of course). I got inside, played some video games to kill time, and talked to Scott from Face First (a fellow sax player). Soon enough, it was time to begin. The Derringers came on first, and they put on a very fun show. Although the crowd wasn't into it because nobody really dances a lot till the last two bands or so, a lot of people were crowded around the stage. I had a feeling the rest was to be even better. Next came my favorite NJ ska band of all time, Day 19. The shows these guys put on are just amazing to say the least. Everyone's favorite song, The Harmonica Song, came on in the middle of their set. Everyone went crazy. "
