My Personal Christopher Reeve Page

I have loved Christopher Reeve ever since I was three and my mom took me to see Superman in the theatre. I tried to write him a fan letter when I was four - even though I could not yet write. I then insisted that my aunt mail the letter - I still don't know if she did or not. :) In 1981, Chris was on the cover of People magazine. I had my mom frame the cover in an 8x10 frame. It sat on my bedside table throughout my childhood. Chris, as Superman, was a constant to me in an unconstant world and I dreamed of meeting him. I came to Cornell University as a freshman in August 1993. I had just relearned the fact that Cornell was Chris' Alma Mater. I told my friend Michelle, that my goal was to meet Chris before I graduated. I didn't know he hadn't returned in the 20 years since he had graduated. But, lo and behold, he came back to campus that November to talk about how important it was to support the Art Department and to give a brief talk before showing an advanced screening of "Remains of the Day". And I got to meet him. :) I was one of a few to do so. I stood standby for a ticket for 3 hours, since I had learned too late that he was coming. Last minute someone sold me their ticket and since there is only one entrance to the Willard Straight Theatre, I was there when he walked by. He shook my right hand, signed my journal and smiled that beautiful smile. I didn't care that his hair was blonde for a part he had just played and I didn't care that I only got to be near him for an instant. He is a wonderful man and he took the time to sign a young woman's journal. So this is my tribute to Chris. I was heartbroken when I heard about his accident in May '95 and I pray for him every day. This page is a page declaring his accomplishments. This is a tribute to a true Superman of spirit. I am trying to post here every picture of him that is on the internet, so if you know of one not pictured here, please e-mail me
