He joined FL later on and we did get to visit from time to time - long ago. -Cal Reese (1/10/01) I've changed my records. Is Walt still alive? If so, I'll send him a newsletter. I have a Frances Albany on the mailing list. Is that you? -Jake Lamkins (2/12/01) No, my dad passed away in October 1988. Frances is his wife (my mom). She really likes getting the newsletter. -Jeanette Albany (2/13/01) We have a website for the Frontier folks who have passed on. I'll add your dad. Do you have some biographical info to add. I can put a photo there too if you can send me one. I can return it after scanning it or, if you have a scanner, e-mail it to me. -Jake Lamkins (2/13/01) This photo was taken at the Albuquerque old terminal in 1965. Since it is much better than the one taken from a group photo that was used for his obituary, you might want to use this one instead. -Mac McElhaney (3/13/05) Thank you, Mac. I'll use it as you suggested. Do you have any other info on Walt such as the stations/positions he worked, etc.? When did he start with FL? -Jake Lamkins (3/13/05) I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe Walt was number two ( 2 ) on the agents seniority list just behind Vern Crowley, Senior Agent at PHX. I also believe Walt started with Monarch Airlines, but not sure about that either. Anyway, he was station manager in Gunnison, CO for many years, then transferred to ABQ as a senior agent. Sorry, but I can't remember when he came to ABQ, but it was prior to 1964 because we were still in the old terminal at that time. Vern Crowley used his number one ( 1 ) seniority to take the temporary manager's job in the West Yellowstone station when it was open during the summer season. He could work in PHX during the cold, miserable winter months, then when it became brutally hot in PHX, he would go to manage the West Yellowstone station. Such a deal! Vern was really a great fellow, though and deserved the opportunity. Art Trevithec was also station manager in Gunnison before coming to ABQ as a senior agent. I believe he succeeded Walt as manager in GUC. I think Art came to ABQ when the company closed down the GUC station because only DC-3s could get in and out of that short-runway, high-altitude airport and we were going to the CV 340 aircraft. Art also came to ABQ while we were still in the old terminal. We moved into the new one in 1965. Both Walt Albany and Art Trevithec are in the same photo I sent with all the ABQ crew. I have no idea what ever happened to Art after he retired. I do have a picture or two of him if you should need one. -Mac McElhaney (3/13/05)
