Introduction:
Dental Implants are the latest
technique introduced into the field of Dentistry for replacement of a missing
tooth/several missing teeth. They have certain outstanding advantages over
conventional procedures, which have made them the most preferred form of
treatment for replacing missing teeth.
The procedure of Dental
Implants is divided into 2 phases. The 1st phase incorporates the
drilling of a precise and small hole in the jawbone, and the insertion
of the Implant in the hole drilled. This 1st phase is followed by a 4 month
waiting period during which the jaw bone fuses with the implant. Then the
2nd phase of treatment is done which incorporates the cementation of the
artificial porcelain tooth/teeth on top of the Implant.
At present, there are
less than a handful of dentists in Delhi who are actually treating patients
using Dental Implants and yours truly is on top of that list.
