Introduction:
Minor oral surgical procedures are carried out for the following:
Impactions: Impaction is a condition when a normal
and usually fully formed tooth is embedded in the jaw bone and
trapped in it due to lack of space for the tooth to erupt. This happens
:-
Apicoectomies: Sometimes, when a patient has injury
to the front of the face, causing damage to the front teeth, infection
occurs in these teeth which, over a period of time, leads to pus formation
below the roots of these damaged teeth. This is a very painful condition.
In such a case, an RCT of the tooth is performed. Usually the pus drains
through the opening made through the tooth structure but sometimes the
pus remains below the roots of the teeth and does not drain out.
Then it is necessary to surgically open the bone below the affected
tooth and then remove the pus manually, with the help of a curette ( a
sharp instrument ).
