JULY 27, 1998

Been a while since I updated the news. So, what's going on in the world of PENANCE ? Well our demo "Bridges To Burn" is currently being sent to labels and magazines/fanzines worldwide. You'll hear of any developments in the record deal camp as soon as we do.

On the live front - September 12, 1998 will mark the return of PENANCE to the live stage in almost 4 years !!! We'll be at the 31st Street Pub in Pittsburgh with fellow Pittsburghers This Tortured Soul and The Silver Tongued Devils. We're also looking at setting some live stuff up in Ohio, Washington D.C. , Maryland, and West Virginia. For more info, directions, etc... e-mail me at balichbj@msx.upmc.edu

T-shirts should soon be available. For right now we're looking at bringing you black t's with the PENANCE logo in white on the front.

JUNE 1, 1998

"Bridges To Burn" is now avaiable from us for $5. We're very proud of what we've accomplished with these songs and think you'll dig this tape. It is umistakably PENANCE but also takes a few new twists along the way. Final track listing - "Bitter", "Dead Already", "Never Lost", and "Bleed You". "I Won't Budge" WAS recorded but is being saved for the b-side of a 7".

As we begin work on the next batch of new songs we are also preparing to do some shows around Pittsburgh. Hopefully we will be able to visit other cities like Cleveland, Washington D.C., Morgantown...For those wondering if we'll be playing any older material - the answer is "yes". Our set will most likely be a 50-50 split new and old with "Words Not Deeds", "Misgivings", "Monster I've Become" and "In Spite Of You" planned for the live show. We've also been messing with the idea of including "Crosses", "Words To Live By", "Penance", and "Visions". Needless to say we have a great respect for the music of PENANCE's past and we do not intend to ignore it.

MAY 7, 1998

On May 12, 13, and 14 we hit the studio to record our new demo. Tentatively titled "Bridges To Burn", the tape will contain the following songs: "Bitter", "Dead Already", "Bleed You", "Never Lost", and "I Won't Budge". We hope to have the demo available for purchase by June. There is also the possibility that at least 3 of the tracks will show up on a 7" or 10" vinyl release.

We are also tentatively slated to be taking part in a tribute to heavy rock pioneers BLOODROCK. We will be recording a version of "Wicked Truth" from the band's excellent debut LP. More on that as I know more....
