GERMAN REARMAMENT

GERMANY BULKS UP TO TAKE BACK LAND

Shortly after Austrian Adolf Hitler came into power(1934), he persueded the people of Germany into thinking the German race was superior to all others in the world. He told them that the land taken from them in the Versailles Treaty was rightfully theirs and should be taken back by any means. Germany began to buildup its military in order to conquer this lost land.

Hitler reinstated the draft and built heavy war machinery. Reintroduction of trooper training brought 36 divisions of German troops into Hitler's power. Hitler’s unilateral repudiation of the Treaty of Versailles brought no effective counteraction from any signatory power. Germany took back the Rhineland and the Suedetenland. Then, he formed alliances with Italy and Japan, building the Axis powers.

During Germany’s rebuilding stage there wasn’t one country that tried to stop the German violation. You can’t help but wonder, if anyone would have tried to stop Hitler when he was rearming his country, World War II may have been totally avoided.
