For my Friend

I sit alone atop the hill overlooking town
Seeing all the autumn colors, red, green, gold and brown
I think of things you have said to me
And wonder if things were different what might be
You made me laugh and sent me smiles
And wiped my tears across distant miles
And now we have a chance to meet, to see each other’s face
Not at my home,, not at yours,, but a very social place
Once that happens and I hope you are there
Never again will we push back the chair
My heart is full, my eyes are too
Of the special feelings I have for you
