Princess Diva- LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn is my all time favorite Diva. She has done so much for the music world and it's hard to belive she's the same age as me. 15, and she's done more for this world then most people will do in a life time.

Meet & Greet

I attended the LeAnn And Bryan show on July 22nd, 1998 in Allentown, Pa. It was an awsome show but boy do I have a long story about how I met both of them! A few hours before the concert was scheduled to begin my cousin (who was attending the concert with me), and I walked down to the fairgrounds where they were sceduled to preform and looked around. First we ran into the guy sitting at the gates making sure nobody entered the backstage area. We asked him questions about what LeAnn was up to and he told us she wasn't in a very good mood because of the heat she was going to have to preform in. Then I told him how I didn't get a meet and greet pass and how upset I was. He said there will be other concerts and I agreed with him. Then he told us that LeAnn may be doing her sound check soon and if we went into the fairgrounds we may get to see it. We followed his advice and went inside. The first person we ran into was the guitarist in LeAnn's band. He was really nice and we got our pictures taken with him. Then Krista said that we should go down to the merchindise section and see what they were going to sell that evening. When we got down there a nice guy named Robby came up to us and asked us if we were going to the concert later. We answered positivly. Then he asked us if we would do a job that night for him in exchange for meeting Bryan. We said yes, and asked if we could possibly meet LeAnn too. He said he wasn't sure but he would go backstage and check. He went backstage and asked the same man we had talked to earlier if we could get the meet and greet passes. He said, "Oh you mean thoughs two girls that didn't get the meet and greet passes, sure I can figure something out". So it was all set we were going to meet LeAnn Rimes and Bryan White in about two hours!!!! As it turned out the job they gave us wasn't that hard, even though it was 90 degrees out, LeAnn and Bryan were very nice, and the show was AWSOME!!!!! This is something I will remember, well.... pretty much FOREVER! Gillian Peifley- maker of this webpage!!

LeAnn Rimes  Born 8/28/82  Jackson, Mississippi

Biography "Superstar" and "sensation" are just a couple of the terms that deejays, reporters and music industry veterans across the country are using to describe 15-year-old LeAnn Rimes, whose debut record "Blue," took the airwaves by storm. "Blue" entered Billboard's country chart at number 49 and went to Top 10, making Rimes the youngest country singer ever to debut that high.

LeAnn's album, also titled Blue, immediately shot to the top of the charts the week it debuted, placing itself as the No. 1 album on the Billboard country charts and No. 3 on the pop Billboard 200. LeAnn's incredible talents have also garnered her Best New Country Artist at this year's American Music Awards, two CMA nominations (making LeAnn the youngest CMA nominee in the history of the Country Music Association), and Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

Born August 28, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi, Rimes, an only child, began singing before she was two.

"My dad has tapes of me doing 'You Are My Sunshine,' 'Getting to Know You,' and 'Have Mercy' by the Judds," LeAnn says.

At age five, LeAnn entered and won her first song and dance competition (with a version of "Getting To Know You") and told her parents, Wilbur and Belinda, she wanted a life in show business. The family moved to Texas when LeAnn was six to pursue that dream, and she subsequently auditioned (and nearly snagged) the lead in Annie II on Broadway. At seven she made her stage debut in a Dallas musical production of A Christmas Carol, playing the lead role of Tiny Tim. LeAnn was a two-week champion on the television show, Star Search, when she was eight, and she has been a regular on Johnnie High's Country Music Review in Forth Worth, Texas.

LeAnn built a dedicated following in Texas through her powerful a cappella performances of the "Star Spangled Banner" at Dallas Cowboy games, the Walt Garrison Rodeo and the National Cutting Horse Championship in Fort Worth. In addition, LeAnn opened for Randy Travis at Starplex in Dallas, and in 1995 she made over 100 concert appearances.

At age 11, she recorded her first album, All That, produced by Wilbur, and released on the independent label Nor Va Jak. The LP featured a version of "Blue," which had been sent to the Rimes by its songwriter, Bill Mack. Mack had originally written the song more than 30 years before and given it to Patsy Cline, who died before she could record it. The song lay dormant until Mack heard Rimes sing at one of her appearances, and subsequently sent her a tape.

"My dad said the song was too old for me," Rimes recalls. "I loved it, though, and I kept bugging him about it. Then I got the idea to put the yodel thing to it."

Wilbur and LeAnn headed to Norman Petty's old studio in Clovis, New Mexico (where Buddy Holly recorded his first album) to cut LeAnn's LP. Lyle Walker, who runs the studio, became LeAnn's co-manager along with Wilbur.

The first album, sold locally in the Dallas area, also created a stir in Nashville and sparked a bidding war among several labels for LeAnn's talents. Ultimately, LeAnn signed with Curb Records.

"Someone sent me her CD; I put it in and everyone just turned their heads and said 'Who is that?'" Mike Curb says.

LeAnn's first Curb CD includes one of her personal highlights, a duet with the legendary Eddy Arnold on his classic hit, "Cattle Call." "It was Mike Curb's idea to do the song," LeAnn says. "Eddy Arnold was great. He kind of adopted me as his granddaughter and then as his daughter."

One of Blue's other highlights is "Talk to Me," an up-tempo cut that LeAnn co-wrote (with Ron Grimes and Jon Rutherford).

"I've been writing songs for a while, and this is the first one I've recorded," LeAnn comments. "I'm really excited about 'Talk to Me,' and I'm looking forward to continuing my songwriting."

LeAnn counts Barbra Streisand, Patsy Cline, Reba McEntire, Wynonna, and her parents among her musical influences. Off the road and out of the studio, she enjoys riding cutting horses, tennis, swimming and watching other performer's concerts.

As for the future, LeAnn has diverse aspirations.

"I want to continue singing and writing songs," she says. "I'd like to act. College is also an option for me. I've always wanted to help children, and I've thought about studying speech pathology."

From the impact she's already made on the entertainment world, it appears the "blue" sky is the limit for LeAnn Rimes.
