Recipe for Cookies For Horses
Mrs. Jenkins' Favorite Horse Cookie Recipe

Mix the following ingredients well:
2 cups cracked corn
1 cup bran
3 cups Quick Oats
2 teaspoons of salt
1 and 1/4 cup of applesauce
1 cup of molasses
1 cup of hot water
Grease a cookie pan.
Form rounded tablespoonfuls of the mixture into football shapes, place on the cookie sheet and flatten a little.
Bake for 45 minutes at 225 degrees.
Turn the cookies over and press them flatter.
Bake again for another 45 minutes at 225 degrees.

If you have trouble catching horses, start taking cookie pieces with you in your pocket. After the first day, you will be met by a fan club. Leave a cookie in your horse's
bucket after a workout. After the first time, the horse will go egerly back into the stall.

If your horse could talk, he'd ask you to make THESE cookies. They are messy, and they take a long time to bake,
but your horse will appreciate them so much, that you will feel the effort was worth while.

The recipe came from Gail Vandercook of Imlay City,
Michigan. She combined several recipes to achieve this great result.

This recipe is placed on the internet as a service to the many people whose horses have tried the cookies as made by Mrs. Jenkins and then have asked for the recipe. Only rarely has she had pencil and paper while standing in the barn aisle. So...here you are! The problem is that once you start making them, you're going to have to keep it up.
Your horse will DEMAND them!!
