A redescription of the trigonotarbid arachnid Pocononia whitei (Ewing 1930)

The trigonotarbid arachnid Pocononia whitei (Ewing 1930), is redescribed and referred to the family Eophrynidae as the oldest known eophrynid. It suggests that trigonotarbids had diversified into the recognised Upper Carboniferous families by the Lower Carboniferous.

Author's comments:
I was never completly happy with the carapace reconstruction for this species. It's not like that of other eophrynids, but then the carapace of the fossil is quite poor. There are also other Lower Carboniferous trigs emerging from Germany.
