About the music on this page

When I first started using Octamed, I began with doing cover versions of some of my favorite artists, whose songs I liked alot. It's a good way of seeing how a song is stuctured, actually! Most of this music has made it's way to Hugo Fernbom's synthpop page. which has links to many synthpop-related sites. Most of the music in this section is indexed to his page. Some of this music may be of marginal quality, since I was a raw beginner when some of these tracks were made. :) I have also ranked the tracks from one to four stars. It's not that the one-star tracks are really that horrible, but I do like to point out the tracks I have done which I think are among my best work. Also, these are ZIPPED archives, which means you should use WinZip or PKUNZIP if you have a PC, or otherwise the appropriate UNZIP utility for your machine.

The tracks

/\DRMNG/\ Depeche Mode - Dreaming of Me (Goa Breakbeat Mix)
And yet, another breakbeat goa influenced remake of a classic Vince Mode track. This one has been altered VERY much from the original version, but is still one of my better covers.
B.C.'s ranking: * * * (out of 4)

/\DRESS/\ Depeche Mode - Dressed in Black
A tune off of what is probably the best Depeche Mode album ever made: "Black Celebration" in 1985. Very dark and wonderful.

/\JUDAS/\ Depeche Mode - Judas
This cover is an 8-track MED, one of my earlier ones. Even with the lowered quality of the 8-channel mode, this one is VERY true to the original Martin Gore-sung ballad, and is one of my favorites.

/\ NEW /\ Depeche Mode - New Life (Goa-breakbeat mix)
A radical realteration of the classic Vince-mode song, this time loaded down with breakbeats and Goa style acid. One of my better covers.
B.C.'s ranking: * * * *

/\PEOPL/\ Depeche Mode - People are People
An early Depeche Mode cover. It is an 8 track MED ... something I rarely ever do anymore, cos it does lower the sample quality considerably. Nevertheless, I think this is a satisfactory cover ...

/\LUST/\ Depeche Mode - A Question of Lust
This has to be one of my alltime favorite DM songs. The track I did here is one of my earlier ones.

/\ SEE /\ Depeche Mode - See You
My interpretation of the classic Martin Gore-sung tune off the 1982 "A Broken Frame" album. It's kinda sad in a way, which is why I like it.

/\FIND/\ Jon & Vangelis - I'll Find My Way Home
Very melodic stuff ... my friend Tim liked this song, so I felt inspired to try and cover it. This version has a more swing-dance feel to it a little.

/\INLOV/\ Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - So In Love
Perhaps my favorite OMD song. It's kinda sad, very melodic, and was one of the first MED tracks I ever did.
B.C.'s ranking: * *

/\DOMIN/\ Pet Shop Boys - Domino Dancing (Electropop mix)
While faithful to the original version, my version has a more electronic flavor to it, and is a bit darker. Still a great classic PSB song!
B.C.'s ranking: * * * *

/\INYOU/\ Psychedelic Furs - The Ghost in You
An electropop interpretation of the classic moody Psychedelic Furs song. Still just as melodic as the original, even tho it's an 8-track MED.
B.C.'s ranking: * *

/\ ODE /\ Yazoo - Ode to Boy (House mix)
The classic moody ballad of Vince and Alf ... bumped up into a thumping house track. But it is still just as moody and chilling.
B.C.'s ranking: * *

/\ONLY/\ Yazoo - Only You
I always did like this melodic little tune. This is an 8-channel MED, and I never was good with those, but the song is only 18K zipped. Give it a listen. :)
B.C.'s ranking: *
