Robert Louis Stevenson

When this lighthouse was built in 1873,
the mechanizim for the light the Light "of the 4th order"
was designed,by the engineering firm "D & T Stevenson
of Edinburg Scotland.
Robert Lewis worked in their offices for a time
and may very well have been there when they were
working on this light.
So it is fitting that I use a poem about a Lighthouse
by Robert Lewis Stevenson

Lighthouse

For love of lovely words, and the sake
Of those my kinsmen and my countrymen
Who early and late in the windy ocean toiled
To plant a star for seamen, where was then
The surfy haunt of seals and commorants:
I. on the lintel of this cot, inscribe
The name of a strong tower.

Robert L Stevenson
