Built in the 1880, it served Southwestern Newfoundland Rose Blanche
in particular until the 1940s
The Ruins
These are the ruins that stood on the site from 1957 until 1996
The Southwest Coast Development Assoc.Thought the site worth restoring
and spent years trying to convince government, that the site was worth preserving as a
Tourist attraction.
Finally in 1996,both the Federal and Provincial governments
contributed $803,000 to be used to train stone masons,rebuild the lightkeepers house and develope
The area on which the lighthouse stands,known locally as The Neck
