I Found Gold in Texas

When I was just a mere lad
I left the comfort of Cincinnati
for the gold mines of California.
They said it was the place to be.

Somewhere along the twisted trail
a left turn took me to Texas.
The mines in the streams and hills
were exchanged by sand and cactus.

While others searched for golden nuggets,
many suffered looking in vain, but
here I discovered Texas is the treasure
where a man can make his name.

I found gold in Texas,
a country with such diversity.
I fell in love with a woman here
who said she would marry me.

I found gold in Texas,
with eight kids in my family,
and each has grown up and
learned to love, God especially.

While others searched for golden nuggets,
many suffered looking in vain, but
here I discovered Texas is the treasure
where a man can make his name.

I found gold in Texas,
And ranching and farming made me a man.
I built my own houses and a barn
On my own grub-staked land.

I found gold in Texas,
and someone found some oil
that was discovered beneath
the God-given crop-making soil.

While others searched for golden nuggets,
many suffered looking in vain, but
here I discovered Texas is the treasure
where a man can make his name.

I found gold in Texas.
Treasures were all around me.
I just had to open my eyes
to all the possibilities.

While others searched for golden nuggets,
many suffered looking in vain, but
here I discovered Texas is the treasure
where a man can make his name.

I found gold in Texas.

No Time

There’s no time to glance at my watch,
For there’s nothing but hair to see.
I’m in a special state of mind, living
Without any schedule; I’m free.

There’s no deadlines to meet or reports
Which need to be filled out.
There are no material responsibilities,
I feel good, without a doubt.

There’s no clock in sight, and only
Moving shadows tell the time.
I’m not sure how long this will last,
But to go back would be a crime.

Is our love real?

I just want to sit here next to you,
And to lie with you,
And cry with you.
Hold you in my arms.
I want to know if our love is real.
I want to know how you feel.

I know that times weren’t so bad,
And you weren’t so sad,
And you were so glad to
Hold me in your arms.
I want to know if our love is real.
I want to know how you feel.

You know I just want our love to last,
And to not go too fast
And not forget the past.
Hold me in your arms.
I want to know if our love is real.
I want to know how you feel.

You know that I am your only man.
And not a one-night stand.
You’re the only one I can
Hold close in my arms.
I want to know if our love is real.
I want to know how you feel.

I know we can make it work together,
And it can last forever
And it will get better.
Hold me in your arms.
I want to know if our love is real.
I want to know how you feel.

Your love haunts me like a ghost

I saw a face today I could only find
Lost deep in the recesses of my mind.
I felt the pain of love that wouldn’t last,
And memories of good times in the past.

Storm raged as the passion burned bright,
And we didn’t stop until the morning light.
Then it was something you needed to hide.
Were you ashamed or did I hurt your pride?
No matter the reason, our love died.

Your love haunts me like a ghost.
It passed away but had nowhere to go.
It floats teasing the images of reality
I see everyday before my eyes.
I’m not surprised I sometimes call
Your name in the silence of the night.
Your love haunts me like a ghost.
Soldiers

Soldiers don’t make war;
They just fight in them,
And when the last bullet flies,
They hope it’s the end.
When they stop to count the costs,
Soldiers know what they’ve lost.
Some are hurt with lost limbs
And some paid the ultimate price -
Lives lost are the biggest sacrifice.
Each of them has their own story,
And say they don’t fight for the glory.
They fight for freedom’s defense,
And to protect their fellow friends.
When peace does make its round,
Shouts of joy will sound from
All the nations in the world.
