DUANE SHARP 1966 - 1986 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT ABQ DEN JAC BOI I don't know if anyone has informed you that Duane Sharp passed away last Fri morning. (10/29/99) He lost his fight due to a virus that attacked his heart and they were unable to find any antibiotics to fight it. Duane worked in ABQ, DEN, JAC, BOI that I know for sure. He was 61 years old. I will try and find his address if anyone is interested in sending Carolyn a sympathy card. -Ken Wientjes (11/4/99) I worked with Duane in JAC the summer of 1971. He was a super fine guy who always carried his share of the load. -Jake Lamkins (11/5/99) I'm sure the family will appreciate it. I got to see Duane a couple of weeks before he died so I feel really good about that. Duane had worked part time for UA in BOI for a while then Carolyn bought a dress shop in COD. Duane got the job as Emergency Preparedness Director for Park County there in Cody. He worked at that till this spring till his health wouldn't allow him to work any longer. He was a great friend and fellow fisherman and will be missed greatly. -Ken Wientjes (11/5/99) I am very sorry to hear about Duane. We worked together in ABQ, and along with several other agents, including John Gibbs, Mark Charles and Bill Lutrick, had a rolicking good time. Duane was a good guy, a hard worker and a staunch Frontier employee. He was the genuine thing from Wyoming, and will leave a large empty space in a lot of peoples' lives. -Steve Galusha (11/7/99) I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. We don't have past editions on line, but the obituary ran on November 1st, and you're welcome to have that issue sent you by mail. Just send $1 to the Cody Enterprise, 1549 Sheridan Ave., Cody WY 82414, attn: Vicki. Tell her the date, and we'll send it. I worked with Duane and thought he was a great guy. Sorry about your loss. -Mark Bagne, News Editor, CODY ENTERPRISE (11/9/99) Duane was a nice fellow I saw him a lot going through JAC. Sure was too bad. I lost a Jackson Hole friend, Dick Bressler, who was in his 20s at the time from the same disease of the lining around the heart. Sad. -Billy Walker (11/9/99) Letter To The Editor Just a note of thanks, Mark, for your help getting me Duane Sharp's obituary in your Nov.1, 1999 issue. It was mailed Nov. 16 and arrived here near Fayetteville, Arkansas on Nov. 28. Apparently, the USPS used the Pony Express part of the way. Duane has taken his place online with other Frontier Airlines' employees who have "flown west", to use a pilot's expression. Duane's obituary webpage is http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Duane_Sharp.html Duane's family and friends are invited to take a look and if they have a story or comment they would like added to his page, drop me an e-mail at ExFAL@yahoo.com I worked at Frontier with Duane in Jackson Hole in 1971. The webpage is a small token of the esteem felt for Duane in the Frontier Family. -Jake Lamkins, Letter to CODY ENTERPRISE (12/3/99) I'M SURE SADDENED BY ALL THE DEATHS OF GOOD FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES OVER THE YRS. I KNEW ABOUT SOME AND HAVE A FEW DETAILS ON SOME BUT DIDN'T KNOW OF SOME LIKE JIM CHARBONNEAU AND DAVE WESTON , WALT REA, DUANE SHARP AND HAROLD LONG. I WORKED WITH THEM - ALSO KEN HETT AND MO OSBOURNE. I KNEW MO WOULDN'T LAST LONG CAUSE OUR DEMISE SURE TORE A BIG HOLE IN HIS HEART! -VERN RUSSELL (2/12/03) Would the deceased ex-Frontier friend you had here (COD) have been Duane Sharp? If so, Duane and I were good friends. I worked with him in a military capacity while he was the Park County Emergency Management Coordinator. I still miss him. -John West (6/24/03) Yes, Duane Sharp was the friend in COD. He & I worked together in JAC in 1971. His obituary page can be found via our Website Index listed below. -Jake Lamkins (6/25/03) I got a call yesterday advising me of the passing of J.L. Olsen in BOI. J.L. was one of the opening Agents when we opened BOI in June of 1979. The original BOI gang that opened the station is getting smaller, having already lost Duane Sharp, Ron Slater, Dave Weston, Bob Smith and Mo Osborne. Time has not been kind to us. -Roger Sorensen (11/21/08) Posted at Tom Enger's guestbook Duane Sharp, my husband worked, for Frontier Airlines in Albuquerque and Jackson. We were good friends with Tom and Family. I would babysit Dana and what a beautiful baby girl. Thank you for the Memories Dana.
