JIM CROWELL 1964 - 1984 PILOT DEN Jim commuted from DEN to FYV several years. He was a big friendly guy who died just before Frontier crashed in '86. He wasn't that old either. It was sudden and unexpected. -Jake Lamkins (5/10/99) Hello Jake, I can't possibly give you a date for Jim Crowell's passing. It was quite awhile ago. I heard that Jim had a massive heart attack and went very suddenly. I had only seen him once since I retired. I retired in 1980. Jim lived in, I believe, Rogers, Arkansas. It was the city just North of Fayetteville. Jim was a great guy. I did enjoy flying with him and he must have still been pretty young when he passed away. We had a layover in Kalispell, Montana together and had a lot of fun driving to Glacier National Park and around Flathead Lake. -Eldon Lietz (5/17/99) According to the Social Security Death Index, James Crowell was born 20Nov1930 and died Jul1986, age 55. -Jake Lamkins (6/16/00) The pix of Capt. "Fech" Fetchner and FO Jim Crowell are taken from the Summer 1974 issue of Frontier Magazine in an article titled A RIDE ON THE JUMP SEAT. The article was one of a continuing series of articles discussing the operation of the aircraft for the benefit of the traveling public. They were very educational. Jim Crowell became a captain afterwards. -Jake Lamkins (5/19/01) Doug (Christensen) used to fly with Jim Crowell. He was a good friend of ours. He was living in Springdale when he died and I wonder if you know if his wife Faye is still in the area? I was wondering about her the other day. I don't think there was another Crowell? He had a son who would be in his 30s by now, maybe? -Margo Christensen Cook (2/4/05) I knew Jim Crowell too. He was a great guy - I got to know him when he was commuting into FYV where I was an agent. -Jake Lamkins (2/5/05) J C CROWELL Pilot seniority date of 6/29/64 on the 9/1/81 FL/ALPA seniority list. He is not on the 9/1/85 list. The Boone County article says he was retired from FL and died Jul 30, 1986. -Jake Lamkins (5/8/09) Posted at the FL Club Updated pilot Jim Crowell memorial webpage JIM CROWELL 1964 - 198? PILOT DEN http://FAL-1. tripod.com/ Jim_Crowell. html Does anyone know when Jim retired? It must have been a medical since he was 55 when he died. Post your remembrances. -Jake Lamkins (5/14/09) The FL 5-84 Pilot Domicile List shows Jim as a DEN 737 captain on sick leave. He is not on the 5-85 Pilot Domicile List. I will assume he retired medically in late 1984 until I get further info. -Jake Lamkins (12/19/10) FAL JAMES C CROWELL ALPA # 0254623 DOB 11/20/30 DOH 01/01/64 (error) RET 07/01/84 per the FL/ALPA Roster. -Jake Lamkins (10/17/13) Posted at FLacebook and the FL Club: DEN pilot Jim Crowell's memorial webpage has been updated. http://FAL-1.tripod.com/Jim_Crowell.html Two items added and page updated. -Jake Lamkins (10/18/13) A good man ....
