Kochi remain unfazed after transfers-GUWAHATI:
F.C.Kochin, fourth in the 2nd National Football
League in the club's debut year, remain totally unfazed by the spate of
top drawer transfers from the club. The big names have left seeking greener
pastures but Kochin are confident of striking back next season.
March 1,1998-Vijayan
Undecided- KOCHI: FC Kochin striker
IM Vijayan is yet to decide on the offer from Malaysian Club NS Champaka.
The striker wants a better deal with them. First, the money offered is
not big enough and secondly, the offer is for just four months from
April to July this season. Vijayan is also reluctant to leave India where
the season will be at its peak.

forecast Kochi victory- DELHI:It's
almost three months since FC Kochin last played in Delhi. This could be
one of the many reasons why tomorrrow's Philips National Football League
should be a big crowd puller. But the primary reason, however, is the Kerala
team's star studded line-up IM Vijayan, Jo Paul Ancheri, Carlton
Chapman and Raman Vijayan.

stun FC Kochi- CHENNAI:Indian Bank
shocked F C Kochin 3-1 in a Philips National Football League match played
under floodlights at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here this evening. The
bankmen surprised Kochin in the last eight minutes through two goals from
Karunakar Raju and Amal Raj when the teams looked like splitting points
with a goal each.

A-I keen to keep run intact-KOCHI: It'll be a battle between pride
and superiority tomorrow in the 2nd Philips National Football League at
the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here. While the hosts FC Kochin will look
to salvage the lost pride after they lost to NFL leaders Mohun Bagan on
Thursday by a solitary goal, Air-India would try its best to extend their
unbeaten run -- in 11 matches -- intact.

Biswas likely to join FC Kochi- KOCHI:
Baichung Bhutia of East Bengal is likely to be the prize catch for FC Kochin
in the coming season. Along with Bhutia, Dipendu Biswas (Mohun Bagan) and
Sheikh Sanjeeb (Tata Football Academy) have also agreed to join the club
for the next season, according to FC Kochin sources.

winner subdues FC Kochin-KOCHI: Formidable
Mohun Bagan overcame stiff resistance to subdue FC Kochin by a solitary
goal by star striker Chima Okerie in a crucial Philips National Football
League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru international stadium here today.The
all important goal was scored by Okerie in the 59th minute through a free-kick
which zoomed past a hapless Kochin goalkeeper V N Dinesh into the net much
to the delight of the Bagan supporters.

beckons Vijayan-KOZHIKODE: I M Vijayan's
dream of playing professional soccer abroad is likely to materialise next
season. A first division club of Malaysia is on the lookout for this talented
footballer and if the deal comes through, then Vijayan, captain of India's
first professional football side, FC Kochin, will sign up for at least
three months at the start of the next season.

makes you a hero.''But one goal stands out in the memory and the FC Kochin
midfielder vividly remembers the moment that launched him to stardom.In
the dying minutes of an Asian Cup Winners Cup match in 1993, the young
medio floored Iraq's Al-Zavra with a spectacular strike to conjure up a
famous win for Calcutta's East Bengal.

January 13: FC Kochin general secretary and team manager Babu Mather warns,
``The real FC Kochin will be seen only after 2000 AD.'' If the grapewine
is anything to go by, Mather's statement is quite significant.

January 11: FC Kochin and reigning champions Jagjit Cotton Textile Mills,
Phagwara split points, sharing a goal each in a Philips National Football
League match here today.

edge past Mahindras-KOCHI:
FC kochin escaped with a win and three points in their 2nd Philips National
Football League match against a rampaging Mahindra and Mahindra (Mumbai)
today.

Kochi should be wary of Mahindras-KOCHI: For FC Kochin, the stunning
reverse which they suffered against Goa's Salgaocar in their last match
of the 2nd Philips National Football League on Sunday last is now a thing
of past."Tomorrow should be ours," feels George Blues, their Scottish technical
director. The home side will meet Mahindras in their fourth home match
of the PNFL. Last week the Mumbai outfit scored a stunning win over reigning
champions JCT Mills and they have four points from their three matches.

Salgoacar coach Shabbir Ali's hope came true today at the Jawaharlal Nehru
stadium. He felt yesterday that ``if our mid-field and strikers click,
then it will be tough for FC Kochin.''

Kochi looking for third win- KOCHI:
An upbeat KBL-FC Kochin will be
looking forward to garner three more points from their third match of the
League against a well balanced Salgaocar.
December 28, 1997-
FC Kochi rout Indian Bank- THRISSUR:
Rain followed Indian Bank, Chennai in the form of goals. Today, at
the Municipal Stadium here, they saw goals `raining' into their net. Favourites
FC Kochin pumped in four, all in the first half against the Chennai team
in their 2nd Philips National Football league match. Jo Paul Ancheri, Raman
Vijayan, Mohammed Salissu and IM Vijayan struck for the Kochi club's second
win in as many matches, reports SS Manoj.
