I would like to introduce you to my father.

As with most little girls he was the first man I loved.

When I was born he was overseas fighting to
protect and defend us from those forces abroad
that wanted to rule the world.

Those forces that took others' lives because
they didn't believe in what they believed in, or
to gain more land and power.

It was a time when the Devil walked the planet
and tried to enslave us all.

I knew him by the pictures we had in our home.
My mother, grandmother, aunt, and I lived
together and waited for him to come home.

When I was 18 months old, the war had ended,
he was honorably discharged from his duties
and came home to his family.

I won't say that everything was easy for
my Dad because it wasn't. He came home with
wounds and scars, both visible and invisible.
He tried his best, did his best, and nothing
more can be asked of any man.

He had only one child, me, but was blessed with
two beautiful granddaughters and a handsome
grandson. He was truly adored by his
grandchildren.

Unfortunately he did not live to see his
five beautiful great-granddaughters and his
remarkable great-grandson we know that he sees
us better now than he did in life,
for his spirit soars.

We remember our veterans once a year on
November 11th,
but their families remember them year round.
Every veteran is someone's son, daughter, brother,
sister, husband, wife, father, mother, or friend.

We remember OUR Veteran!
