ST. HELENA

'JAHO' - At Anchor in St Helena - Easter 1983
as seen from the heights above Jamestown the main and only town.

The only way up or down is by a flight of several hundred steps
from the top of which there's a truely aerial view of Jamestown
provided one has a good head for heights !!

From these heights, Napoleon Bonaparte would have looked down
at the ocean during his years of exile - a prisoner of the British,
dreaming perhaps of a ship to take him home again,

while living at 'Longwood House' - now maintained as the Napoleon Museum -

on the Plateau summit of the island.
But it would be several years after his death before his remains
would be shipped back to France from this small isolated volcanic
island in the South Atlantic - 1800 miles out from Capetown.
