Mikes Five Favourite Coins

One of my hobbies is collecting coins. I have a small collection of British coins from as far back as 1806, Philippine coins dating back to 1902, and various other world coins including a largish set of French, Belgian, Dutch and German.

I thought I would decide on my 5 favourite coins and share them with you. They are not particularly old or valuable, I just think they are very pretty, and if I was able to, they would be those coins which I would want to hold and look at the most.

This coin is a British Half Crown, struck in silver in 1887 during the reign of Queen Victoria. This particular portrait of her was known as the Jubilee Head and was produced to commemorate the Jubilee (50 years) of her reign.

This is a Philippine Fifty Centavo coin from the time of the American occupation. This particular coin was struck in silver in 1944 during the time of WWII, the Philippine Commonwealth.

This is an 1889 American silver One Dollar coin. It is known as the Morgan Dollar. It is in beautiful condition given its age, and is probably my favourite of all my coins.

This coin is a British One Crown, struck in silver in 1937 to commemorate the Coronation of King George VI.

This is a Philippine 25 peso coin, struck in silver in 1980 to celebrate the centennial of the birth of General Douglas MacArthur. He was the head of the Allied forces in the Pacific during the war. The scene depicts him and his troops coming ashore on his return to liberate the Philippines.
