Sea bag and uniforms of Mr. Lehman who was a mechanic on Naval Sea Planes.. Served in 15th Aviation Squadron, Grate Lakes, Ill. Mr. Lehman was involved in the initial phase of the development of Naval Aviation, one of the 1800 enlisted men, 1100 officers serving a complement of 400 planes and 3 dirigibles. He was released when the War was over and he arrived home Christmas Eve, 1918 a surprise to his family. Mr. Lehman was selling his effects when I first came into contact with him. He was forced to do this due to health reasons and was moving to a nursing home (Brandon Center). I last heard from him in 1991, when his letter stated that he was suffering from the effects of colon cancer and a rapidly declining physical condition. A true gentleman, he wrote often, and was enthusiastic about his naval uniform being preserved. POC
