"Polk County Flying Artillery"

The 5th Texas Company K is a proud member of the National Civil War Association. Based out of Northern California, members of the 5th Texas come from all over the state as well as parts of Nevada and Oregon, and even as far as Maryland. The 5th Texas is based on the original Company that was a part of " The Bloody Fifth". Attached to Gen. John Bell Hood's Texas Brigade that was a part of the Army of Northern Virginia from 1862 to 1863, then again from 1864 to 1865. From 1863 to 1864 Hood's Texas Brigade was sent West and became part of the Army of Tennessee. This made them the only Texas troops to fight in both the Eastern and Western Theaters of War.
