Dark. It was dark. But warm. And cosy where he sat. But when the lights clashed open and the rumble of a hundred or so people greeted him, Julian jumped in his seat. He turned his head this and that way, frowning wildly and suddenly recognising his surroundings. He was in a tribunal. A Cardassian tribunal. He had been somehow placed in front of the Chief Archon's podium, and each of his side were a bunch of people, standing and accusing in their stares. Julian gasped. They were all ... his own friends! Dax, Kira, O'Brien, Sisko, Quark ... even Jake, all dressed up in military Cardassian uniforms, standing in threes at each side of ... Julian gulped. The chief-archon was Garak, dressed in a robe and clutching an old style gavel ... People started rumbling and whispering in the back of him, and suddenly, music began to play. A rhythm to which all six of his friends began to sway to while Garak pounded his gavel over the podium. Then his friends began to chant, "Order, order in the court, order, order in the court!" Julian gaped at them, and before he could formulate some sort of coherent question, Garak leaned over the podium and sang smoothly, "Is there something going on? Well I may be right but I could be wrong, it's a mystery! I got circumstancial evidence for a count of cuz it all depends on you and me!" "What will be will be," his friends chimed in, all leaning forward in unison. Garak descended the podium, still crooning at Bashir with his usual theatrical passion. "Tell me what you're gonna do, you know you hold the vital clue to my destiny! Well I'll be your judge and jury, I'm gonna sentence you to a life with me for eternity!" Julian opened his mouth to protest but the crew beat him to it, "You've been found guilty!" "It's a love trial," Garak crooned, leaning over Julian's chair. Shaking his head, he looked at Garak, then at his friends as they said harshly, "And I ain't gonna set you free." "It's a love trial ..." Garak continued. "You can't win." "It's a love trial!" "And I ain't gonna hear your plea." "It's a love trial ..." "You can't win!" Garak grinned and ran his finger up Julian's back then across the shoulder as he circled the chair languidly, singing, "I'm gonna lock you up and make you mine forever, cuz you stole my heart and that's a major felony! Look at what we have don't you see, cuz we got love in the first degree! I got witnesses who will testify that it's only you who can satisfy, you just can't win!" The crew leaned back, eyes wide, "That would be a sin!" Garak whispered, "Tell me what you're gonna do, you know you hold the vital clue to my destiny! Well I'll be your judge and jury, I'm gonna sentence you to a life with me for eternity!" "You've been found guilty!" Garak continued crooning the words, now in full view of the doctor as he swayed to the beat, pouring his heart out to the young man. Julian tried to find some sort of logical reason for all of this, but he finally gave up and swallowed hard, looking up at Garak as he said, "I'm gonna lock you up and make you mine forever, cuz you stole my heart and that's a major felony!" Julian stood there, dazed until all six of his friends began to advance on him slowly, chanting with a tone that held no chance of reprieve, Garak joining in with eyes ablaze with lust. "I'm gonna take your heart, you can't get free cuz you've got love in the first degree, and I sentence you to eternity, cuz you've been found guilty. There ain't no way you gonna get loose, so don't you try, it ain't no use. You're caught in a trap and you can't get back, so you better be cool and take the rap!" Garak finally leaned over him and brushed his lips over his ear. "I'm gonna lock you up and make you mine forever, cuz you stole my heart and that's a major felony ... Julian ... for eternity. Julian ... Julian ..." "Julian!" Bashir snorted and looked up, seeing Garak framed by a familiar background ... his infirmary. Oh Allah ... he sighed inwardly. It was only a dream. "Oh .... Garak ... I'm sorry, I guess I just ... dozed off." He sighed, relieved. Garak tsked. "Sleeping on the job. That should be a major felony." He chuckled and shook his head, blind to the suddenly bewildered look Julian gave him. "Oh Allah ..." Julian breathed, and he slumped over his desk. THE END
