Ode to Chakotay Okay, before the groaning starts - let me explain! This is an in-class exercise from my creative writing workshop. We weren’t judged on our artistic merit (obviously!) but instead on how well we could find or manipulate end rhymes... It started out quite slowly, it took a while Before I noticed his beautiful smile. That slight quirk that dimples his cheek, Seeing it makes my knees go weak. Soon I became trapped by his eyes Ever gentle, sweet and wise. Chocolate brown and fathoms deep. Into my heart they began to creep. And that tattoo, what can I say? That sweep of ink just blows me away! From there it’s progressed, And now I’ve become obsessed! His red and black uniformed shoulders Are broad enough to carry a boulder. I think, too, that his hair is quite nice; Pitch black and shiny like licorice. His declaration of love to Kathryn Accelerated hearts from here to Dublin. If I hadn’t loved him before, I would from this point, forevermore. His friendship and steadfast devotion Is more bountiful than the largest of oceans. As a first officer, he takes the cake In all ways, he and Kathryn *together* are fate. In the short time I’ve known him, Chakotay Has become my mainstay. I look forward to his visits via UPN And count the minutes until I can see him again! I know, I know. This is unhealthy and sick But don’t blame me! Paramount played the trick That has left me with this yearning. Their sneakiness really has me burning! So if I cannot shake this feeling The one that has left many a girl a-reeling, I’ll just have to live with it and earnestly pray For the minutes to fly until Wednesday! End. Aren’t you so glad it’s over? Thanks for humoring me in my sickness!
