DENOMINATIONS AND THEIR ORIGINS
Have you ever thought how and where your religion was discovered and by whom? The following are just a few:
Jewish - Founded by Abraham about 4,000 years ago.
Roman Catholic - It is claimed that Jesus Christ began this denomination in the year 33.
Lutheran - Was discovered by Martin Luther who was an ex-monk in the Catholic Church, in 1517.
Presbyterian - John Knox was the founder who brought the teachings of John Calvin to Scotland in 1560.
Baptist - John Smyth founded the Baptist faith in 1607.
Methodist - Discovered in 1744 by John and Charles Wesley in England.
Episcopalian - In 1789 Samuel Seabury brought this religion to the American Colonies from England.
Pentecostal - Began in the United States in 1901.
