A NONPROFIT SELF HELP ORGANIZATION OFFERING
FRIENDSHIP AND UNDERSTANDING
TO BEREAVED PARENTS AND SIBLINGS
Welcome! We are glad that you visiting this page, but if you are a bereaved parent, we are sorry for the reason for your interest. If you are feeling lost and isolated in your grief over your child's or sibling's death, remember,
YOU ARE NOT ALONE

The Compassionate Friends is an international self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to bereaved parents and siblings. It was founded in 1969 by the Reverend Simon Stephen in Coventry, England. The first US Chapter was founded in 1972

More of our History

The Compassionate Friends is not affiliated with any specific religion nor does it endorse any political view. Our only purpose is to provide a comforting network of support, friendship and understanding that only those who have "been there" can give.

When a child dies, a parent's world is torn upside down. Life will never be the same again. The grief of this loss is the worst thing a parent will ever endure. You do not have to go through this grief process alone. There are other parents who have experienced the death of a child and can offer understanding and support. These parents make up The Compassionate Friends.

We gather to listen, to share and to support each other in the resolution of our grief. You need not walk alone.
The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child and to provide information to help others be supportive."
