***** Purpose of GPSAR Explorer Post 2000 *****
Greater Philadelphia Search And Rescue(GPSAR) Explorer Post 2000's main purpose is to assist GPSAR in its mission of searching for lost and missing persons. We do this by going through training in all areas of Search And Rescue operations, such as Command Post ops, Radio Ops, Field Team Ops, Bike Team Ops, and many more. There is no unit in GPSAR that an Explorer cannot train with. Some units however restrict explorers in what they can and cannot do, do to current Pennsylvania State Law.

The Explorer post is affilated with the Boy Scouts of America, and through this association we are able to use BSA campgrounds for trainings and field trips if we wish.

Our explorer post strives to be the best possible unit that we can be. To better allow us to do this, we are more then willing to train with any Emergency Services based Explorer Program in our area. We are also looking into the possiblity of having local BSA units train with us. SO that in the event of a large scale search or disaster. We will be able to better serve the community by having more personnel, who are certifeid in basic Emergency Service skills.

** ATTN: All other SAR, Police, Fire and EMS Explorer Posts**
GPSAR Explorer Post 2000, is looking into training with local explorer posts and boy scout troops. The Explorer posts would have to do something that GPSAR does i.e. Emergency Response Agency, Water Rescue, Mtn Bike, Rope Rescue, etc... - you can contact the Post for more information

*** Contact Info ***
The explorer post can be reached via e-mail at explorers@gpsar.org, or via phone at 215 966 1888 Since we are an emergency response agency, we are able to respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our emergency contact number is 610-630-6744 THIS NUMBER IS FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY!!!

*** Recruitment ***
The explorer post is going to start actively recruiting several groups of people and in certain local areas. This is based on where our current members live and what activites they are interested in. To help aid in recruitment we may develop a "elite" group of explorers. The idea behind this is to give new explorers a goal to reach, other then being able to respond to calls. Scanner Frequencies
The explorer post operates off of three main radio frequencies, 10 channels on the VHF bands, all 14 FRS radios bands and we use CB radios. Here is a list of the team radio callsigns: Capt. Explorer 1 or E1 1st Lt. Explorer 2 2nd Lt. Explorer 3 Sergeants Explorer 4 and on down untill all sergeants have a number. members are addressed as Explorer then their last name over radio.
