Part 25

Gleeby immediately bounced out of her seat. "We're in England! I can't believe we're actually in England!"

"It's too good to be true!" exclaimed Janine, pressing her nose against the window.

"At least I didn't have to pack you all in my suitcase, like we had planned before!" Mimi joked.

"Well, come on, let's get off the plane!" Alison said eagerly, standing up.

"Hold on there, shotgun," Mike began, putting his hand on Alison's shoulder. He took a napkin and swiped at her nose. "You still had some pie remains on your nose."

"Oh...thanks." Alison grinned.

The group hurriedly exited the plane and managed to find their baggage somewhat quickly. They met up with Bob and Bert, who told them what hotel they would be staying at and which rooms they were staying in.

"Well, I'm ready to go out and do some sight-seeing!" Lynne announced to Calli, Alison, Gleeby, and Christine, the swoonies she was sharing a room with.

"Calm down, Lynne!" Christine told her. "The guys might still be unpacking. Peter said he'd knock when everyone was ready."

Lynne sighed and flopped down on one of the beds. "Hmm..." she began thoughtfully. "Is there any chance that I might be able to find a place that makes coolattas while I'm here?"

Gleeby smirked. "Lynne, you're pathetic!"

"I know," replied Lynne, smiling sweetly.

Christine and Alison were sitting by the large window, gazing out at the shoppes and all the other lovely scenery.

"This place is so cool!" commented Christine. "I haven't even been into any of the stores yet, and I love it!"

"Me too!" Alison agreed.

"I still can't believe we're here," Gleeby murmured, shaking her head.

Kat, Jenna, Janine, Mimi, and Kit were in the next room. Janine and Jenna were studying a map of England, trying to pick out all the spots of importance that just *had* to be visited. Mimi was staring off into space (again), Kit was inspecting their hotel room, and Kat was lying on the bed looking at the ceiling.

"Do you know what scares me?" Kat suddenly asked, breaking the silence in the room.

"What?" the others questioned.

"The fact that we don't know how long we're going to be here."

"I don't get it," Jenna spoke up after a slight pause.

Kat took a deep breath. "I don't mean here in England, I mean here in the sixties."

"Oh, I get it now!" Mimi said. "It is kind of scary."

"Plus we still haven't figured out why we're here," Kit added.

"Yeah..." Jenna mumbled.

"Oh, stop it, you guys!" Janine groaned. She jumped up. "Listen, as long as I'm here, I'm going to enjoy myself and forget all my worries. Now who's with me?"

The other girls just smiled

"Janine - you're so goofy," Mimi told her.

There was a loud knock on their door. Kit opened the door and grinned when she saw Davy standing there.

"'ello, luv!" Davy smiled. "Are you girls ready to go?"

"Yep," Janine replied. "Jenna and I picked out a bunch of places for us to go to."

"Groovy," Davy said. "Well, the others are waiting down in the lobby. Come on, now!"

"Okay, who knows how to read a map really well?" Christine wondered aloud.

"Not me...I can't even figure out how to fold one!" Mimi admitted. Lynne giggled.

It was half an hour later, and the Swoonies, Monkees, and David Pearl were still in the hotel lobby, trying to figure out where to go. None of them wanted to split up, and it seemed they couldn't agree on anywhere to go.

Alison noticed Mike standing by the lobby desk, scribbling something on a piece of paper. She strolled over to him and peered over his shoulder.

"Hey, Mike. Whatcha doing?"

Mike jumped. He spun around. "Don't scare me like that!"

"Sorry," Alison apologized. "I was just wondering what you were up to."

"Sendin' a telegram," replied Mike.

"Groovy," Alison mumbled, squinting so she could read what Mike was writing. All she could make out was the signature. 'God is love.' Alison covered her mouth with her hand. This was the telegram Mike sent to John Lennon!

"I say we just start walking, and if we find anyplace interesting, we'll go there," Peter finally spoke up after Micky snatched the map from Jenna.

"Sounds good to me," Calli agreed. The others nodded.

"Well, let's go then! We only 'ave until about six o'clock," Davy informed the others.

Kit raised her eyebrows. "What's happening at six?"

"The sun goes down!" Christine announced.

"No..." Davy began, giving Christine an odd look. "I'm going to 'ave dinner with me family."

"That's nice," Kit said, smiling.

"Onward!" Lynne shouted, pointing towards the door.

Everyone shuffled out the door and began walking down the street. The girls "oo"-ed and "ah"-ed at just about everything they saw. It was England, after all!

"Abbey Road!" Mimi suddenly shrieked. "We have to go to Abbey Road!"

"We'll go to Abbey Road, Mimi, don't worry," Micky laughed. He turned to Gleeby. "She *really* wants to go there, doesn't she?"

Gleeby just shrugged. "You don't have any idea how much."

Micky looked confused for a minute. Then he shrugged.

By the time 5:45 rolled around, the group had visited Abbey Road, unsuccessfully attempted to get inside the studio, and had gone to many interesting little shops. Mike and Janine had been leading the group since they were the two figuring out the map. The others just trailed behind, enjoying the scenery.

"Guess it's time to head back," Micky suddenly announced after glancing at his watch. "It's starting to get dark, anyway."

Kat glanced back at Mimi, Lynne, Calli, and Kit, who were staring through the window of a closed-up store. There were lots of groovy items inside that intrigued them.

"Come on, you guys!" Kat called, motioning for them to follow.

"We're coming, we're coming!" Lynne grumbled, not moving from the window.

After a few more seconds, the four broke their gazes from the store. The group was quite a ways ahead of them already, so the four girls quickened their steps to catch up.

"Ouch!" Calli suddenly moaned, collapsing to the ground.

"Calli! What happened?" the other three asked, hurrying over to help her.

"My ankle! It hurts soooo bad," moaned Calli, biting her lip.

"You must have tripped in this stupid hole or something," Mimi observed. "I can see how you didn't see it, though."

Calli winced in pain. "I can't move my ankle, though!"

Kit gently touched her ankle and tried to wedge it out of the hole. "I think it's lodged in between something. It's not coming out."

"Well, we better get it out!" Lynne exclaimed. "It's probably caught between some rocks or something."

Calli was close to tears. "It really, really, really, really, really hurts, guys!"

"I bet it does," Kit said, cringing at the thought.

Lynne and Mimi both fell to their knees and began pulling at the two rocks Calli's foot was caught in between. They continued struggling for a few more minutes.

"It's...not..." Lynne began, tugging with all her might, "...moving!"

The rock suddenly popped out of place. Lynne grabbed it and tossed it to the side.

"There, your foot is loose," Kit told Calli. She gently took one of Calli's arms. "Now we've got to get you standing up."

Mimi grabbed Calli's other arm, and the two pulled her up. Lynne glanced ahead of them.

"The others have completely disappeared!" she announced frantically. "We don't know where the kretch we are!"

Mimi took a deep breath and tried to remain calm. "Does anybody have any idea where the hotel is?"

"No!" the others replied.

"This is definitely not good," Kit said in a worried voice. "We don't even know where a hospital is!"

"Darn Janine and Mike for having that map!" Lynne moaned, stomping her foot.

The colour had drained out of Calli's face. "What are we supposed to do now?" she asked.
