Killed in action at Wagon Hill, Ladysmith. 6th January 1900. Only son of Judge F. Raikes of Malton, Yorkshire.

RAIT - 2nd Lieutenant Walter Garnet - 1/King's Own Scottish Borderers
Died of enteric at Wynberg 22nd June 1900. Only son of Lt.Colonel Rait, CB of Anniston, Arbroath.

RAITT - Captain Arthur Douglas - 2/Queen's Royal West Surrey Regt.
Killed in action on the Upper Tugela, 1st January 1900. Aged 30.

RALLI - Major Antonio Stephen - 12th Lancers
Died of enteric at Kroonstad, 26th May 1900. Aged 39. Son of M. Ralli (ex-Prime-Minister of Greece).

RALSTON - Lieutenant James - 1st Imperial Light Horse
Killed in action at Hartebeestefontein, 22nd March 1901.

RAMSAY - Lieutenant Nigel Neis - 2/Royal Highlanders
Killed in action at Magersfontein 11th December 1899. Aged 33.

RAMSAY - Major Thomas Burnett - Mounted Infantry Rifle Brigade
Died of dysentry at Elandsfontein 20th December 1901. Aged 39. Only son of Colonel William Ramsay, Rifle Brigade.

RAPHAEL - Lieutenant Frederick Melchoir - 1/South Lancashire Regt.
Killed in action at Spion Kop 24th January 1900. Aged 29. Second son of George Raphael of London.

RASBOTHAM - Lieutenant Robert Egerton - 1/Durham Light Infantry
Killed in action at Eden Kop, 22nd June 1901. Aged 22.

RAY -  Major George Lake Sidney - 1/Northumberland Fusiliers
Killed in action at Magersfontein, 11th December 1899. Aged 30. Son of Surgeon-Colonel Sidney Ray, of Kent.

RAYNER - Lieutenant George Pritchard - 49 Coy. Imperial Yeomanry
Died of enteric at Trescawan, Anglesey, 1st July 1900. Aged 29.

READE - Lieutenant Robert Ernest, DSO - 1/King's Royal Rifle Corps
Wounded at Roodepoort, 2nd February 1901. Died of wounds 4th February. From Wilmot, Co. Antrim. Born 18th April 1879.

REES - Lieutenant James Edward - Western Light Horse (Rhodesia)
Injured in a fall from his horse at Salisbury, 2nd June 1902 and died the next day.

REEVES - 2nd Lieutenant Evelyn Layard - 4/Somerset Light Infantry
Drowned while crossing a spruit near Bailey, 29th October 1901. Aged 20. Son of E. Reeves, of Ceylon.

REID - Lieutenant James Cunnighame Corsane - 3/Somerset Light Infantry
Killed in action at Nooitgedacht, 13th December 1900. Aged 19. Son of James Reid, of Dumfriesshire.

RENNIE - Lieutenant Coverley James - 2/Lincolnshire Regt.
Severely wounded. Died at Rietfontein West, 26th August 1901.

Killed in action at Klippan, near Springs, 18th February 1902. Aged 24. Son of Fairfax Rhodes, of Gloucestershire. Buried at Charlton Abbott's, near Cheltenham. Stained glass window in St. Andrew's Church, Sevenhampton -

ROBERTS - Lieutenant Frederick Hugh Sherston, V.C. - King's Royal Rifle Corps
Wounded at Colenso, 15th December 1899. Died 17th December. Aged 27. Born at Umballa, Punjab, India. Son of Field Marshall Earl Roberts and Nora. He was buried at Chieveley Station, on the Tugela.

Died of enteric at Intombi Field Hospital, Ladysmith, 5th January 1900. Aged 24. Son of Colonel C.J. Russell, Royal Engineers, of Weymouth.

RUSSELL - 2nd Lieutenant Lionel Phillips - 2/West Yorkshire Regt.
Wounded at Holland, 19th December 1901, died the next day. Son of Sir W.R. Russell, of Flaxmere, Hastings.

RUSSELL - 2nd Lieutenant Philip Leslie - 17th Lancers
Killed in action at Modderfontein, near Tarkastad, 17th September 1901. Aged 23.

RUSSELL-BROWN - Lieutenant Frank - 1/Royal Munster Fusiliers
Wounded near Bloemfontein Waterworks, 30th March. Died of wounds 4th April 1900, aged 28. Son of Colonel F. Brown, VC, ISC. Husband of Kathleen Colquhoun, married August 1899.

Killed in action on the Upper Tugela, 21st January 1900. Aged 31.
