1915 - F.C. Nisbet, DSO -
Born 1870. Joined 28th Regt. from Sandhurst in 1890. Served South Africa, pow outside Ladysmith. Commanded 61st when Colonel Tulloh was killed. From 1916-1918 commanded 8th Bn DCLI in Macedonia. Awarded DSO and Serbian Star of Karageorge. In 1919 commanded the 28th Regt. in Ireland. Died 8th May 1953, in London.

1919 - R.P. Jordan, CMG, DSO
- Joined the Glosters from the Militia in 1889, posted to 28th at Dublin. Posted to Depot 1890. Capt. and to 61st 1899. Served in South Africa, DSO for Driefontein (wounded). Depot, adjutant 3rd Militia Bn 1902. Major, 28th 1910. OC Depot 1914. Raised and commanded 7th Bn in Gallipoli. Wounded; CMG. Mesopotamia; injured, invalided to England. Rejoined Bn for capture of Kut and Baghdad. Remained with Bn until they reached Baku 1919. CO 61st 1919. Retired 1922. Married 1934. Died 22 Oct. 1963, in his 94th year.

1922 - R.L. Lawson

1923 - R. Wilkinson, DSO
- Commissioned into the 61st from the Militia in 1896. Served in South African War. Commanded 7th Bn at Gallipoli during WWI. In 1919 he was 2nd-in-command of the 61st and became CO in 1923. Left the Battalion in Shanghai 24th May 1927. He died at Brighton, 9th May 1957, aged 79.

1927 - R.L. Beasley, DSO
- Born 1878. Joined 28th Regt from Militia 1899. Lieut. 1900. Served South Africa (QSA 3 clasps). Served in West African Frontier Force 1901-06. Served N. Nigeria 1902 (medal & clasp). Capt. 1906. Nigeria 1906 (clasp). Major 1915. Lieut-Col. 1927. During WWI served with Royal Lancaster Regt and Border Regt. 1913-15 served with the Ceylon Volunteers. (DSO & 2 clasps, 1914-15 star trio, MID 5 times).

1931 - Victor Neville Johnson, DSO -
Born 1882. Commissioned from the Royal Garrison Regt. in 1902. Lieut. 1905. Capt. 1911. Adjutant 5th Bn 1914. Major 1916. WWI served in France and North Russia. MID, DSO. Lieut-Col. 1919. Appointed Officer in Charge Records, Warwick, 1935. Died at Malvern, 2nd October 1972, aged 90.

1935 - Lionel Howard Cox, MC -
Born 1893. Commissioned 1912. Lieut. March 1914. WWI posted to MGC. Capt. 1916. MID, MC (1918). Major 1919. Served in Iraq 1919-20 (medal). Rejoined 61st in India. Staff College, Quetta, 1927. CO Horfield depot 1933-35. CO 61st Regt. 1935. In Sept. 1938 he commanded the Malta Infantry Brigade and was there through the Malta blitz. Dec. 1941 commanded North Wales District and promoted Major-General. 1944 GOC Singapore Division. Retired Dec. 1948. In 1949 given a Foreign Office post in Greece as Deputy Chief of the British Delegation to the United Nations Balkans Committee. Died in Athens, July 1949, aged 56.

1938 - N.F. Somerset, CBE, DSO, MC -
Nigel Fitzroy 'Slasher' Somerset. Born in 1893, the son of the 3rd Lord Raglan. Commissioned into the 28th in 1913. During the First War he won the MC (1917) DSO (1918). Commanded the 61st in 1940 and was captured at Cassel. Appointed CBE in 1945. Died 7th February 1990.

1940 - E.M.B. Gilmore, DSO -
Commissioned August 1918, joined 2nd Bn in India 1919. Adjutant 1924. Instructor at RMC Sandhurst 1928-32. Adjutant 6th Bn 1934. CO 2nd Bn France 1940. Congratulated by the German CO for the stand made by his Battalion at Cassel. POW 1940-45. Retired 1948. Died 7th January 1965.

1944 - Francis Wyndham Arthur Butterworth, DSO, MBE -
killed in action at Oud Gastel, Holland 6th Nov. 1944. Buried at Bergen-Op-Zoom War Cemetery, Netherlands.

1944 - R.N.H.C. Bray, DSO -
General Sir Robert Bray, GBE, KCB, DSO. Commissioned 1928. Died 1983.

1944 - A.J.A. Argeno-Jones

1945 - H.L.W. Bird -
Commanded Bn from June 1945 for 6 months. Commissioned 61st Regt. 1925. Served at the Depot, with the RWAFF (attached), and Adjutant 2nd Bn 1935-38. Staff College 1939, rejoined 2nd Bn for France. Served on Staff with BEF. Commanded 2nd Bn on 2 occassions and 1st Bn in Nov. 1948-Dec. 1949. Instructor at Imperial Defence College. Sub-area Commander at Seoul, Korea. Later commanded 149 Infantry Brigade (TA) at Oxford. Retired 1957. Awarded OBE. Died 2nd Jan. 1973, aged 68.

1946 - R.J. Bewell -
Robbie Bewell was commissioned into the 61st on 31st August 1922. He retired in 1949 and died 8th February 1988, aged 88.
