Who am I...what am I...that's a good question. The basic stats include: 38 years old, below average height (5'8"), fairly decent build (muscular 170 lbs.), reddish-brownish sorta curly hair, green eyes. Cock size revealed to those who treat me *really* well. ;^) Proud to be an American mutt: one-quarter each of Russian/Lithuanian/English/Welsh. I recently moved from California to northern Arizona, after my dad passed away (I'd stepped out of the teaching profession for over a year to take care of him full-time).

I'm known on the 'net as Griffin Grimes, and I pursue some of my favorite hobbies there: reading, writing, and talking about The X-Files and my new passion, the American version of Queer as Folk. I've also been into Velvet Goldmine and anything with the actors from it. In fanfiction for these shows, I am especially partial to the Mulder/Skinner pairing (XF), Brian/Kurt (VG), and Michael/Dave or Michael/Brian (QAF). I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that, of all the QAF characters, I feel I'm most like Michael (but I'm not as much of a whiny nerd as he is), so I have fun seeing him paired with *anyone*. ;^)

Away from the computer, I am into karate, weight training, basketball, tennis, and golf. Pretty decent at all of the above, although I don't get much time to enjoy them. I also like to read a good book now and again, mostly sci fi and horror. I have a dog - Mishka - who is like the precious son I've never had; and two cats - Fox and Alex - who are brothers but fight all the time, constantly battling over who's on top when they hump eachother into exhaustion (and then fall asleep in eachother's arms on the dog bed they usurped from Mishka).

Romantically, at the moment I'm unattached. I've been lucky enough to find love a few times in my life, and even luckier to have been able to remain good friends after each breakup. In the last six years I've had three very special on-line loves that were based in BDSM - something I've discovered to be fundamental to what I want in a relationship. Two of these 'net romances moved into real life, where we would get together whenever we could despite significant geographical distance. The first broke up after nearly four years with a woman who was my Domme, the second after more than one year with a young man I'd collared as my submissive.

So yes, I'm bi, and generally identify as a "switch" (enjoying both the Dom and the subby role). However, my last relationship with my former boy ended partly because we realized that my true *need* is to be submissive...although I can enjoy (and be pretty good at - heh heh!) "playing" Dom if that's what my partner desires. Therefore, after having a few months' distance from the loss of my latest love, I'm just beginning to feel ready to open myself up to someone new - but only if I can find the right person. In the meantime, I have plane tickets to Europe to go visit my former Domme for the first three weeks in July. [big evil grin]

My past:

I'd co-founded the chat channel #TheAD'sOffice - first on DALnet, then on Squidge.org - as a place for all XF slash fans to congregate and share their fascination for the slashy side of the show with others. I chose to take a sabbatical from working on Office doings, on the condition that I could return to it at any time. However, when I *did* seek to return, I was eventually told by the newest Office "Slashketeer" (anyone else I asked remained silent then, and now) that the current Office organizers had decided that there were too many cooks at the pot and I was not allowed back. This is the official truth, in case anyone who knew me from the Office wonders why I stopped associating there...although it apparently died out shortly after my dismissal.

Until a move back to the Central Coast area of California in January 2000 - to care for my disabled father when my mother died - I was a teacher living in the mountains of central California. My home was ranch-like, and I was just starting to get into raising chickens before I had to move.

Before that, I was...much younger 8-). I was born and raised and spent most of my life in the South Bay area, near San Jose, California. I graduated in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and then I counseled and cared for emotionally disturbed children and developmentally disabled adults.

During this time I also dabbled with writing for a chain of local newspapers, and became Assistant Editor of the largest one in the chain. I loved the writing and editing part, but not the unpleasant tasks like interviewing the families of earthquake victims (my toughest experience in my newspaper career). Being on a newspaper staff in a time like this (the quake of '89) made me realize that I would not want to move on to bigger papers.

So, eventually, after working in electronics for a couple of years, I decided I would finally go do something I'd always seen myself doing someday - teaching. At age 30-something, I went back to school for nearly two more years with mainly 20-somethings and got my teaching credential.

I enjoy teaching, although it is very hard and demanding work. I worked mostly with at-risk teenagers, and half of my teaching was done in Spanish or bilingually. I really believe what I was doing before I had to put my career aside indefinitely was my biggest challenge in life, and the occasional rewards of seeing near drop-outs turn themselves around and ending up going on to college kept me going through the stresses that can be found working in that field.

So that's who I am, and have been, in case you were wondering. ;^)

Sincerely,
Griffin
