ADLINE WAGES GROOM
(1850-1913)

ADLINE WAGES, who was born in Arkansas on July 27, 1850, was the daughter of SUE ??? (b. October 17, 1819. d. May 5, 1882) and WILLIAM THOMAS WAGES ( b. June 24, 1810. d. May 5, 1875). He was killed when a bolt of lightening struck him as he was coming home from work with an ax thrown over his shoulders.

ADLINE was married three times. Her first husband , John T. Moore was killed in a gun fight. Their daughter SARAH TOMMY MOORE married her step brother, MARTIN ALLEN GROOM, son of REV. NEEDHAM YORK GROOM and his first wife, MARGARET (GRYDER) GROOM. ADLINE'S second husband was John Dean from whom she was divorced. She received custody of their son Will Dean (1877-1957) but since ADLINE and her third husband, REV NEEDHAM YORK GROOM, could not afford to educate Will, ADLINE consented for him to go back to his father. He became a successful lawyer in Ft. Worth, Texas and died there on January 26. 1957.

After REV. NEEDHAM YORK GROOM'S first wife MARGARET (GRYDER) GROOM died, he and ADLINE were married in Van Zandt County, Texas on April 18, 1879. Their six children were JEROME (1880-1974), MINNIE 1881-1907), FRANK (1883-1967), CORDELIA (1884- ??), LELA (1887-1960), HARVEY HOMER 1889-1971).

ADLINE died March 4, 1913 and is buried near her husband REV. NEEDHAM YORK GROOM, in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Granbury, Texas.
