ELIZABETH (BRYAN) GROOM

After the death of Elijah Groom, Elizabeth and their five minor children lived in Claiborne Parish, La. till 1877, when she and her youngest child, Delfunda Groom moved to Texas with  her son Rev. Needham York Groom , his wife Margaret (Gryder) Groom and their 8 children .  They all moved together by ox-cart to Van Zandt Co. Texas and they bought adjoining farms.  Delfunda took care of the farm and the cattle till his death about one year later.  He died of complication from the measles and his mother Elizabeth died at about the same time.  They are both buried in the Phalba Cemetery near Canton, Texas.  Their graves are unmarked.

Since NEEDHAM BRYAN, was MARGARET (BRYAN) GROOM's brother, and the name NEEDHAM was handed down in the Groom family, it is interesting to note about Margaret (Bryan) Groom' parent's and their children:

The children of Thomas Bryan and  Winnifred (Needham) Bryan were all born in Randolph County, Georgia.  They are  Needham (1818), Elizabeth (1820), Henry (1821) Mary (1823), Leonora (1825),  Allen (1827),  Ann (1830),  Abavdy (1832),  Daniel (1834),  and Franklin (1835).
