Listed below are the Top Ten Comic Book Based Movies that are my personal favorites!

#1) Spider-Man 2 (2004) (Widescreen Special Edition)

Awesome !!!

This movie continues where Spider-Man 1 left off, and really captures the feeling of the first fifty issues of Amazing Spider-man....

The ending of this movie covers more ground faster than the comics did !

#2) Spider-Man (2002)

Great... Great... Great...!!!

This movie catches the essence of what made reading Spider-man #1-39 so darn good!! Puny Peter Parker... with all the angst... and more.

The cgi was worth the price of admission alone, and there was a real story to this movie... it wasn't just another rock' em, sock 'em superhero fight movie!

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE MOVIE,
CHECK OUT THE GREAT MOVIE POSTERS FROM IT!

#3) The Rocketeer (1991)

One of the First of the New Run of Comic Book Movies!

Even though Disney considered it one of their lesser movies... I love this movie becuase it captures the essence of Dave Steven's comic book... and transferred that vision to the big screen.

And Jennifer Connolly, (who starred in the new Hulk Movie) looked really great in this movie!

The film also stars relatively new comer Bill Campbell as the boyfriend, who with Jennifer end up having the mafia, Nazi's and the FBI chasing them! It got a lot of heart and a lot of humor and it is a great family film.

#4) Fantastic Four (Widescreen Edition)

Ok, I am a little prejudiced when it comes to this movie....

The Fantastic Four (volume 1) is my favorite comic book series

So I was dreading this movie before it came out, and was surprised to see it ranked so far up on my scale of 1 to 10.

The movie caught the FF family feeling, especially between the Thing and the Torch.

Not as good as the first two Spidey Movies.... but definitely worth watching!!

#5) Men in Black (Deluxe Edition) (1997)

No Kidding!!
This Movie really was based on a comic book! Even says so in the opening credits that most people miss...

Very popular movie, and the sequel is just as good!

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE FIRST MOVIE,
OR EVEN THE SECOND MOVIE,
CHECK OUT THE GREAT MOVIE POSTERS FROM IT!

#6) Men in Black II (Widescreen Special Edition) (2002)

Great Sequel.... and just gotta watch Frank again and again in "Who Let the Dogs Out?!!"

This movie makes me love being a Marvel Stockholder!

#7) Superman 1 - The Movie (Special Edition) (1978)

Really love this movie.... Was the start of a great franchise of Superman movies... even though the last few movies floundered a bit.

Really thought that Christopher Reeves was the right Superman... hope the new Superman movie casts someone as good as him!

This movie makes me want to be a owner of AOL Time Warner stock, it is so good!

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE SUPERMAN I OR LATER MOVIES,
CHECK OUT THE GREAT MOVIE POSTERS FROM THEM BELOW!

#8) Daredevil (Widescreen Edition)

A little too grim and gritty for me, but the storyline held true to the comics.

I missed out on the Frank Miller issues when they first came out, so the old DD comics pre-Miller, with Stan Lee & Gene Colan are more my style

Especially like the Elektra charater portrayed by Jennifer Garner!

Daredevil Posters !

#9) Frank Miller's Sin City (Recut & Extended Edition)

Ok, I know that I have said above that I don't like my comics too grim and gritty.... so what's this movie doing here in the Top 10 ?

The thing is, is that I went into the movie knowing that this was going to be grim and gritty, just like the comic books this is based on.... so that is why this movie is pretty darn good!

#10) The Mask (New Line Platinum Series) (1994)

Yes! Based on a Comic Book !

Great Jim Carey movie and Great Acting by Cameron Diaz.... she never looked so good!

This is a movie that bears watching over and over!

The Next Top 10!

#11 -20

#11) the Phantom (1996)

Based on an old comic strip and Comic Book!

This wasn't a bad movie... but didn't gather much critical or viewer acclaim... the purple costume was trashed as silly super-hero fare, but it was true to the original comic strip. All in all this is a family film that still is worth watching!

And yes, that is Catherine Zeta-Jones as the femme fatale!

#12) Batman Begins (Two-Disc Special Edition)

Just seen it once..... was pretty good, had been a while since the last Batman Movie!

#13) X-Men (2000)

This movie finally brought to the big screen what Marvel Comics should be presenting to the mainstream movie goers!

With lots of big name actors, this should be the start of a franchise of X-Men Movies for years to come...

It may not be totally true to the early years of the X-Men during the Marvel Age of Comics, but it is a good start of Marvel finally pulling over a GOOD movie !

CHECK OUT THESE POSTERS FROM X-MEN I

#14) X2 - X-Men United (Widescreen Edition)

A good continuation movie from the first movie.

Definitely for X-Men comics fans !

#15) Batman I (1989)

This movie was a cool movie.... but after watching it several times I realize that it is just a little too grim/gritty for my personal tastes, which is why it ranks this low on my top ten!

There are only so many times that the Joker/Batman fight in the tower is watchable....

Still this is movie worth watching and owning...

#16) Judge Dredd (1995)
Yes seriously... top twenty stuff!

Maybe because I love Stallone action movies... but this movie really ain't that bad!

I never have gotten into the comics...but this movie really is a good solid 'comic book' super-hero movie!

#17) Elektra (Widescreen Edition)

Definitely for Elektra & Jennifer Garner Fans !

No Daredevil in this flick.... sorry !!!

Especially like the Elektra charater as portrayed by Jennifer Garner!

Just that I came in too late for Elektra in the comics to really know what was going on in the movie...

(#18) Honorable Mention - STAN LEE'S MUTANTS, MONSTERS AND MARVELS by Stan Lee and Kevin Smith

Not exactly a COMIC BASED MOVIE, but is a Video interview with Smilin' Stan Lee.... and couldn't pass listing here on the web site .....

Bought my copy at the SD Comic Con International this summer, and couldn't wait to preview with my wife and kids who didn't exactly make it to the early years of Marvel!

This is a really good presentation, and Kevin Smith sure knows how to ask the right questions, and let Stan the Man answer them as only he could !

(#19) Honorable Mention - The Incredibles (Widescreen 2-Disc Collector's Edition)

Alos not exactly a COMIC BASED MOVIE, but it sure plays out like a Fantastic Four Comic Book!

Similiar super-powers, a dysfunctional family, similiar super-villain... etc etc...

No wonder I loved it!!

(#20) Honorable Mention - Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (Widescreen Special Collector's Edition)

Also Not exactly a COMIC BASED MOVIE, but they made a special PROMOTIONAL COMIC BOOK to go along with the movie

Great for Jude Law and Angelina Jolie Fans!!

This is a really hot movie that didn't get the proper respect in the theaters !
