It is important
that your child complete ALL assigned tasks ON
TIME. Helping your child is allowed...but
encouraging them to complete their work without
excessive assistance...is much more desirable.
Take a look at the finished
product...ALWAYS!
Read TO
your child, WITH your child, and have your child
READ to YOU!
Make sure your child has a quiet
place to read to themself also. Make sure to
check your child is understanding what they are
reading.
Have
your child study the BASIC WORD LIST and ask your
child to spell various words. You may ask them to
spell aloud words you both see on signs
etc.
Ask
your child to count out various items and/or
organize items to certain criteria. You can have
them sort out, clean-up, and reorganize household
items.
Get your
child to write each day. This may be done in a
diary/journal, creative pieces (poems/stories
etc.), making out grocery lists, or even
penmanship practice.
Give your
child responsibilities around the house. Make
sure they have reasonable chores that they can
succeed at, and gain feelings of accomplishment.
Give them instructions to follow.
Try and
take time each day to stop and give thanks to the
Lord for each other and your daily blessings.
Make this a time you all look forward to spending
together.
Do something physical and fun each day.
A healthy body and spirit will come from a good
workout. Energy increases when a person exercises
and develops physical strength and
endurance.
