~Since The White Man Came ~

She stands on the hillside,
Veiled in the deepening shadows.
Her eyes sharp and all seeing.
She surveys the land below,
Watching for her mate.
Her pups are hungry,
For hunting is slim,
Since the white man came.

A single solitary figure,
Just watching and waiting.
But for her the wait will be long.
Her poor mate will hunt no more.
For as she watches for him,
His life blood spills to the ground,
Since the white man came.
