Modoc Rock Shelter
As early as 8,000 B.C., prehistoric
Indians were camping in the shelter. The shelter is cut into the base
of a great sandstone bluff. The people who camped here lived by hunting
animals and gathering plants for food and fibers used this small shelter
regularly for more than 60,000 years.
