WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL HOMEPAGE OF IANTO WARE
It's been over a year since the last update of this page. Hmm. That's a little dubious. I guess I kind of figured no one reads home pages anymore, and no one of any merit uses the internet for fun. And if you know me personally you probably hear whatever I've got to say anyway. But I've had a few people lately tell me they were reading this thing, so it's occurred to me that perhaps I should start updating it again. It's been almost ten years since I first set it up. Weird. The first attempt was a single page with a list of things I liked, and I list of things I disliked. I thought I'd revive that approach.
Good things:
Getting a scholarship - Thanks to Flinders University. This is the third, and final, South Australian university into which I have entered, and so far I have a good option. Not only are they giving me money, but I went out to the post graduate student's meet and greet nonsense thing the other and, on top of 'networking', I also got a shot at some sodding brilliant platters. Oh man. There were these pineapple/cherry and cream cheese things. So much good food. Unlike Adelaide, which managed crap biscuits and tea. Word to the wise: Don't go to Adelaide University. It's a hole. They might have good intentions, but then so did Hitler.
The Emerging Writers' Festival - Held in Melbourne. I got paid excessively, all on the grounds of being a zinester. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! They flew me over, paid for my accommodation, paid for me to do a totally pleasant reading and panel, flew me home and gave me a living from home allowance. The night after I got home I went to band practice and Fatty B gave me some money for a show we played a while back. Then a couple of nights later I played another show, and got paid for that as well. So I woke up the next morning and looked at the food in my house and thought "I'm feeding myself with my art! That rules!"
Sunday Soccer - I went to this Sunday soccer thing set up by this guy I know. There were seven people, so we had to keep taking turns on being in different teams, so as to balance things out. And we were all equally crap, which was reassuring because I haven't played soccer since primary school. I scored a goal too, the first time I've ever scored a goal in any sort of sport ever. Although I don't think any score was being kept. The winner was decided by who scored the last goal of the afternoon. This was decided about three minutes before we finished, and we were all so worn out it was like a victory for everyone.
The show last week at the Grace Emily. Not only did I get paid, but my Mystery Cousins were there, and thus I got to berate Fuhrer Mike for looking at them wrong. I figure I've never had younger female relatives before, and it gives me the chance to boost my sense of manliness by 'defending' their honour (also known as berating anyone I think may have so much as looked in their general direction). Mike wasn't too much of a problem, but I gave both Pippa and Aliese a pretty hefty talking to about it a couple of nights later.
I got mentioned at this website, as did Fuhrer Mike. We're famous. http://fledthescene.blogspot.com/
Bad Things
The University of Adelaide's English department. Not to harp on a point, but having something to contrast them against makes me think it's not just me being bitter. They really are crap.
Having girlfriends who move to other countries. That sort of sucks.
Hmm. Actually there's not that much stuff in my life that doesn't rule right now. Everything is pretty much like one great victory!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!
Why have you scrolled down this far?
No one signs this guest book, so I decided I'd hide it down here. Congratulations, by scrolling down this far you've gained the chance to see my internet failure. I hope you're enjoying a cruel laugh at my expense.
