Title: Save Your Soul Author: Istannor Series: TOS Part: 1/1 Rating: NC 17 Codes: S/f, K/f Summary: This was inspired by Boys Of Summer, which I adored. Many thanks to mecurtin. Also, I stole without conscience, from Jewel, but because I had only heard the song once, I had to make up most of the words, and I just plagiarized the stuff line for line from Boys 2 Men. I have always wanted to say that. Disclaimer: These are the characters of Paramount and Viacom, they own them I only check 'em out from the library. I promise to bring 'em back. TOS: Music Video Save Your Soul Fabric shushed against fabric as they moved together in a dance old as time. He felt her richness beneath and asked for absolution. "Touch me, " He whispered. She complied. His nerves sang. He caressed her mind and felt her shudder. He ran his finger, then his lips along her pointed eartips. She looked at him with lust, anger, betrayal and understanding. It shattered his shields. He accepted it all and sought to give her himself in recompense. He undressed her like the Goddess she was, with reverence and awe. Then he touched her. She screamed. This was the way of Vulcan, all but forgotten by Romulas. The soul singing, the nerve playing, the mind swaying, he knew them. He gave them all to her. She had touched his soul with her honor and her intelligence. Then, he had betrayed her. She arched and moaned. He drove her further towards the brink. This pleasure was needed, but ah, what pain it gave. She could no more be his than... He ran his hands lightly down her temples, trailing flames wherever he touched. He kissed her full breasts and trailed his tongue down her abdomen to suck at her nectar. She moaned, lost. He entered her warmth and moved to fill his emptiness. Their minds soared. Their nerves burned. He moved against a strength to almost match his own. They fell from grace ...together. They lay wrapped in each other arms. For one more moment, they were no longer adversaries. He felt a presence and turned around...to see hazel eyes full of silent grief...and acceptance. The figure left, just as silently as he had come. Who will save your souls when it comes to the lies that you told. Who will save your souls if you won't save your own souls, now. "Look at him." Sulu nudged Chekov, and jerked his head to the right. They were sitting in a small Club on Starbase 12. A woman, small, so dark she was almost purple, with curling dark brown hair that fell down her back in waves, sang to them. Her face was beautiful and her voice was magic. She caressed the words of the song. Who will save your soul when the reaper comes for the toll Who will save your soul when the stories have all been told. "Who?" Chekov turned in the direction Sulu was pointing. "The Captain." Sulu jerked again with his chin. "Look at him, watching her." Kirk was transfixed. He leaned forward toward her notes, pulled in. Earlier, McCoy had sat beside him, watching the music maker, and watching him, but an old friend had found him. He had left to reminisce. The woman turned to scan the crowd. Slowly her eyes came to rest on the Captain. She seemed to shift slightly. Her voice, if possible became more intense, more focused. "He's going to seduce her right off of the stage. Damn, how does he do that?" "I don't know, Ru, but after what he's been through, I hope she can give him whatever he needs." Sulu turned to his friend. " For a navigator, you are pretty smart. I hope its better after we get back to the ship. I hope he's better." He scanned the room again. "Look, Pavel, over there. Mr. Spock is sitting by himself against the wall. I didn't see him come in. I wonder why he doesn't join the Captain." "I don't know, but ten will get you twenty, it has something to do with that Romulan Commander." Pavel motioned for another drink. "You don't think they are fighting over her, do you? They would never do that." Sulu voice was filled with disbelief. "Maybe not so much over her, as what they did to her. Neither one of them looked too triumphant on their way back. Starfleet was happy, but they sure in the hell weren't. I can't count how many times the Captain apologized to me for things he said, while he was trying to fool us." "Ditto with me. Still, they were following orders," Sulu shrugged. "Yeah, but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow. She is one hell of a woman." They sat and watched her sing. He was speaking of both the Romulan and the singer, somehow related, in his mind. They had just dropped off the Romulan Commander at the Starbase after successfully stealing the Romulan cloaking device. Both Kirk and Spock had spent an inordinate amount of time with her in her quarters, in truth, her cell. The Captain had been uncomfortably quiet lately, thoughtful and withdrawn. Spock and he seemed distant from each other, too. The crew sensed it and felt helpless in the face of the evidence. There was nothing they could do to change whatever rift had occurred between the two men, only hope it would heal. She sang and Kirk sat and watched her with the full attention only he and the Vulcan could give to someone. When he was like that, it seemed even his air watched you and catalogued you. She gave up the pretense and sang only to him. At the end of her set, she stood to widespread applause and got up to leave. Kirk rose, slowly and made his way to the front of the stage where she was bending down to put her guitar away. He stood silently until she turned to acknowledge his presence. They looked at each other for moments which stretched. He held out his hand towards her and she reached out to take it and step down off of the stage. He pulled her close to him, yet touched nothing but the hand he held. "My name is Jim." "Jim." She turned his hand over and looked at it, rubbing it lightly with her own. " I am Ariana. Walk with me, Jim." They turned and they left the room together. Sulu and Chekov watched them leave together and turned to see the Vulcan watching also. Hot bodies moved in rhythm. Molten steel ran down her insides. His hands were everywhere, reading her secrets. Softness, covering diamond hardness. Tongue, licking her sweetness. Ache, such sweet pain. He moved in her, filled her past knowing, filled her until she tasted him in her mouth. She sipped on him and drank him in. She sang to him, and let him heal in her womb. Who will save your soul when they come for the lies that you told. Who will save your soul, one day the truth will be told. He kissed her, so sweetly and called her name again and again. It had never sounded so mystical. It would be a song. She would sing of this night. Still he moved, never letting her go, never letting her skin get cold, or his touch leave her. He was in so far, she thought she would burst, and hoped for it. She pulled him deeper, to know her, to touch her. She had seen his soul across the room. She had felt his pull even as she sang. Who will save you soul, when the dead return to the fold Who will heal your heart, when all that you love falls apart. Pain, she would sing of his pain and his passion. She could feel it possessing her, making its music in her cells. She would have to sing it to set it free. She did not wish to carry this inside her. Let it go, give it freedom. Somewhere, she caught glimpses of his thoughts, her gift to see, truly see. It gave her music meaning. She sang to the truths in those around her. She saw what they kept inside and she gave it freedom. She sang it away to soothe them. A woman, his shame at a betrayal, respect. He honored her and his betrayal shamed him. Fear, that he had lost the one thing he valued, the respect and love of another. Fear that he had sold his soul, and betrayed it. Fear that he would be alone. Who would save your soul , who will pay for the lies that you told. Who will save your soul and save you from the devil's hold. She flowed around him and rocked with him. Deeper they went. They came closer to her notes. She could see her song taking form. She could feel her notes sounding in her head. He rocked and kissed her sweetly, so sweetly. Alone and lost, needing so much and giving all, he was afraid he would lose the only thing that still mattered to him. She came in a flash of sound that filled her head with crystalline notes, and the notes played out in her head. She felt him shudder and scream in pain or pleasure. She was not sure he knew which it was. They lay together, with her gently stroking his hair, running her hand down his firmly muscled back. He was handsome, and beautiful to her mind's eye. She would sing of him tonight. The song was there. The music was made. "Please, forgive me," he whispered into her ear. "It is not me you are saying that to." She answered. They went back to the club. Only two hours had passed. It was time for her to sing. Who says, the sea can't move in winter Or clouds stand still in a storm Who says a man can't cry and be lonely Who says a man can't tend to be wrong And if you could see inside my heart You would see loneliness And if I could show you my mind You would be depressed Said I sit away lonely And I get away only in my mind Said I sit away lonely And I get away sometimes So I gather my things And be on my way Into my lonely place Said I'm feelin' lonely and lonesome And I just need to get away And if you could know what I'm afraid of You would be frightened too And if you could feel the pain that I'm feelin' Then you would know why, I do Said I sit away lonely And I get away only in my mind Said I sit away lonely And I get away sometimes Why do I feel Like I will never be loved again There I go Back in my mood again Lonely, lonely She sang to him; she sang to them. And, he listened; and, they listened. Silently, Spock came and joined Kirk at the table. He looked up as the Vulcan sat. Kirk's eyes showed his pain at what he had made the Vulcan do. "Never again, Spock. I swear, I will quit Starfleet before I agree to do what I did to you, again. She is an honorable person. She did not deserve what I had us do. Please, forgive me. I can't deal with this distance between us. I need you by my side." The baritone caressed his soul and soothed it. "I do not blame you, Jim. You were following orders, do not castigate yourself. I needed distance to integrate my reaction to the events. I found that I required forgiveness from her to relieve my discomfort. She is a remarkable woman. I had no way to speak to you of it. I did not have the words until...after. I regret I did not share the cause of my distance with you earlier. I will not make that error again." He reached over and gently placed his hands on the table, near his captain's hands, touching them lightly. "You are not alone. I have not left your side. It is my desire to never do so." His statement brought moisture to the Human's eyes. Kirk turned away quickly and fought visibly to bring himself back into control. " I'm sorry. I am acting like an idiot. They specifically told me in command school 101, Starship Captains do not get misty eyed." He allowed humor to creep into his voice. The Vulcan looked at him in open affection. " How strong you are, to admit your need and your pain. You saw. Technically, what I did was consorting with the enemy. You could have me court-martialed; if you wish., Jim. However, given the same opportunity, I would do the same, again." "I didn't see a thing, Mr. Spock. I was in my cabin the entire shift." The Vulcan gave a half smile, only for his eyes. "Understood." He pulled away from his Captain's hands reluctantly, and turned to watch the stage. When he turned his gaze back., Kirk still sat with his full attention on him. "I wanted to do it, you know. I won't lie to you. I didn't ask for the assignment, but when they approached me, they didn't have to coerce me. It sounded like a challenge. It sounded like something to peak my interest, and put another notch on my dick. I could steal valuable military secrets, and play at being a secret agent against the people that had killed members of my crew. You know that is part of me. I just didn't realize that she would be...no different than me. It would probably destroy me to be had, like I did her. Yet, I think she will survive and be back on top. Damn, I even hope she will." "I know, Jim. Understand also, that I will not participate again in anything such as this, that you, and Starfleet, undertake for your "dicks". I will oppose you with all I can bring to bear, next time." "Understood." He paused to gather his thoughts. "If I meet her in battle, I will not hesitate to blast her ass out of the heavens." It was important to him that Spock understood. That would not change, no matter what he, Spock, and the Romulan Commander had shared. The Vulcan nodded his agreement. The human smiled and visibly relaxed. It would be fine, just fine between them again. They had shared their thoughts, and there was no room for confusion, or doubt. "Spock, we are invincible together." "We certainly seem so, my Captain.." Save your soul and let the future you see take its hold Save your soul do not let their lies burn you whole Save your soul, it is all that your love dares to hold Save your soul, all the rest will be left for the dark days untold.
