ONLY IF YOU KNEW
by Derrick L. Ruffin
Is it a dream of passion?
Or is it a dream of fate
Not to hear your voice each day
Is like not living for myself
But to you, I say to you
As I know you belong to someone else
I know I am better for you
And still, I cannot have you
For you are a married woman
Being abused emotionally, mentally, and physically
By a man who care nothing for the human soul
Yet alone not caring for the BLACK WOMAN
I say to you, my shade of rich chocolate
We are destined to be together
If only you can see that love is blind
Like the winds of time, forever and ever
As I fall for you, I know you will pick me up
With your passionate and endless love
But with a demented obstacle standing before us
I still know there is a chance
I see you around town putting on a front
Ah, yes, I am aware that you are suffering
He pleases you only when he is around his friends
And not caring to know if you have an opinion
Only if you knew; I cannot express my words
For I have much more respect for you than he
For I can communicate better than he
For I am more HUMAN than he
I dream of looking in your eyes
Only if you can see the sun by day and night
For which I stand alone and you are absent from my side
Only if you knew, you will someday, someday, someday...
