Christmas Orange Bread

1/2 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup mashed banana
1/2 cup orange juice
2 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cup mixed candied fruit
1/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup chopped nuts
confectioners' sugar
fruit to decorate

Cream butter or margarine, add sugar and blend. Add eggs, beat until light and
fluffy. (Add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition.) Combine banana
and orange juice. Add to creamed mixture alternately with sifted dry ingredients
mixed with fruits and nuts. Pack into greased and wax paper lined loaf pan 9x5x3
inches. Bake in moderate oven (350*F) 1 hour or until done. Cool about 20 minutes
before turning out on rack. When cold, dust with confectioners' sugar mixed with a
little milk. Decorate with citron and cherries.
