September 2000 Weight Loss Journal

September 5th (210 lbs): FINALLY!! It's taken almost 4 months, but I've finally broken out of the 215 plateau. It took a week of Atkins to do it, which I'm not real keen on..after about 3 days I'm really sick of eating protein. But I stayed on it long enough to break my plateau and for that I'm very excited. My goal is to get below 200 before my one year anniversary of my surgery date November 1st. That will bring me to a total loss of 100 lbs in a year. (I'm big on nice round even numbers) ;)

September 10th: Well last week didn't go so well with Atkins..ugh I just get sick of restricting certain foods and then I crave it and binge and ugh.. don't even get me started. I don't want to get on this diet rollercoaster again that I was on for so many years. This weight loss surgery is a tool to help me lose the weight, but I don't want to start restricting myself and binging again. I'm afraid to weigh myself cuz I probably gained everything I lost last week...

September 13th: I've been loosely following a program this week called "Body for Life" which basically has you eating six small meals a day. You eat every 3 hours and you eat a portion each of protein, carbs, and vegetable. A portion is about the size of your closed fist. The theory behind it is that your metabolism increases because you are feeding it smaller amounts more often. I haven't weighed this week, will wait until Friday. So far it doesn't seem restrictive and I haven't felt too hungry. I've been volunteering at my daughters PTA bookfair every day this week so I haven't been going to the gym after work as usual, but will be going to the gym tomorrow for sure.

September 24th: My computer crashed last Sunday and I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall. It took me 5 days to figure out how to get back online, everything that could go wrong did! I'm finally back online minus my bookmarks and my email address book... I feel internet challenged! Ya really take for granted how much stuff is stockpiled on your computer until it all gets wiped out. I guess I'll just have to start surfing the web again to find all my favorite sites again.. who knows maybe I'll find new ones. Dietwise has been about the same the last week or so, haven't been going to the gym because I've been working two hours over every day. It was real tiring at first getting used to staying late. I think I'm in the swing of things now and will try to incorporate the gym back into my schedule. I have exactly 5 weeks until my one year anniversary for weight loss surgery. I have about 12 lbs to lose, which I know is attainable if I really put my mind to it.
