Nathaniel  and his twin brother Washington, sosn of John dial and Anna cox were born April 8, 1922 near McMinnville, Warren co., Tn.  In  March 1837, John Dial decided to move his family to Shelby co., Tx.  His mother, Margaret Hinkle-Dial, then about 63, went with him  N.G. served in the Mexican war was a First Lt of the Tx. Mounted Troops, Division of Volunteers.  NG married Mary McCall Newton, dau. of Ebenezer Newton, Feb. 8, 1848 in Shelby Co., Tx.  When the Civil War started NG joined the CSA after moving his family to Hopkins co., Tx to live with relatives, his last child Mary M was born thre.   In 1879 NG and family moved to Fannin Co., Tx, where other members of the Newton family were already living.

Nathaniel was a prosperous farmer an doften went on buffalo hunts in northern Texas.  

During the Civil War, Nathaniel served as a private on the frontier to keep the Indians back.  He experienced very little fighting.  He fount for the  South, although he was opposed to slavery and the secession of the States.  He had  sold his slaves, (for confederate money).  When the war was over, he and his family returned to Panola Co.  Several of his slaves stayed with him, but it was still a difficult  time.  Nathaniel enjoyed reading history and often sat up late to do so.  He was a member of the Methodist Church South.  

After Nathaniel died the older children soon married, leaving Mary .  Hearing about the free land in  Oklahoma, they moved to Greer co (now Jackson Co).  and They each homesteaded.  

He was married to Mary McCall Newton (daughter of Ebenezer James Newton and Sarah/Senah Erwin) on 8 Feb 1848 in Shelby Co., Tx.57  Mary McCall Newton58 was born on 6 Jul 1830 in Marahall Co., Tn.59  She was living in 1894 in Jackson Co., OK.60  She was ill with died of inflammation in 1913 in Eldorado, Ok..61  She died on 12 Aug 1913 in Eldorado, Ok..62  She was buried in Eldorado Cem., Eldorado, Ok.63  Marylee Knight has she was born in Tn, per info from Melba Dial Pendleton of OKC

Born in Earth County, Texas, June 4,  1884, she died in Oklahoma City, Sunday after several weeks of illness.   She was married to G. C. Sims at Eldorado in 1901.  Survivors include three sons, D.W. of Ponca City, Gresham of Denver and Howell of Lindsay, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  Bearers were S. A. McGehee, Maldurs Easley, Henry Martin, Lyle Hines, L. R. Wynn and Dwight Smith.  Charles Green Sims and Ida Adeline Harvick had the following children:

Howell A. Sims was born Feb. 16, 1912 in Roosevelt, Ok. and passes away Friday, Feb. 14, 1986 in Lindsay, Ok. at the age of 73.  He had been a resident of this community for 37 years.  Mr. Sims was a retired welder.
   Mr. Sims married Lois A. Shockley on Nov. 29, 1930 in Roosevelt, Ok.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Lois Sims, Lindsay, one daughter Sarah Burkes of Lindsay, four grandchildren, Jacquita Sites of Sulphur, Jimmy Sims II of Wyo., Abner Sims of Wyo and Alan Sims of Wyo, Robert Burkes of Lindsay and Sharlotte Burkes of  Lindsay, and four great grandchildren, Renee Sites , Robin Sites and Richard Sites all of Sulphur Ok and Keith Sims of Wyo.
   He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Sims, one daughter Sharlotte Sims, three brothers, Melvin, Dewitt and Gresham sims and him parents Charles and Ida Sims.
   Funeral Services were held monday, Feb. 17, 1986 at 10 am in th e First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Ok.  Alvin McConnell officiated the services. 
   Pall bearers were W. C. Hopkins, Clyde Adams, Troy Cornell, Paul Turner, Johnny Beverly and Harold Banta.
   Internment was held in the Snyder Cem. under the direction of the Boydson Funeral Home, Lindsay, Ok.

He was married to Lois Avis Shockley (daughter of Newton Columbus Shockley and Louella Beason) on 29 Nov 1930 in Roosevelt, Kiowa Co., Ok..112  Lois Avis Shockley85,109 was born on 11 May 1914 in Heflen, Alabama. Sgt. H. Hims buried with Military Honors:
   Full military rites were held Saturday, Sept. 19, for Sgt. Jimmy Howell Sims, 33, who died in the U. S. Naval Hospital, Wednesday, Sept. 16, following lung surgery.  Burial was made in Fairlawn cemetery, with casket bearers being members of the Marine Corps.  Sgt. Larry Sims, a cousin of the deceased, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sims of Mtn. Park served as honor escort for the remains flown in from San Diego, Calif.
   Rev. Greenwood Busbee, pastor of the Frederick Baptist Church officiated at the church service held at 2 pm in the Fist Baptist church of Snyder.
   Born Aug. 2, 1931, in Hobart, Ok., he attended school in Snyder later moving with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howell A. sims to Lindsay where he completed high school.  He also attended Oklahoma Tech College, Okmulgee and for the past ten years has been serving in the U. S. marine Coprs.
   He was married to Alice Hawley of Dallas, Tx on Sept. 9, 1959.  The family made their home in Oceanside, Calif.  Survivors are his wife of the home and 3 sons, Jimmy Howell II, Abner DeWayne and Alen Stephens of the home.  A daughter by a previous marriage Jacquita sims of Eager Arizona, his parents Mr and Mrs. Howell A. sims of Lindsay and a sister Mrs. Sarah Burkes of Enid.  Other survivors are a number of relatives in the Snyder-Mtn. Park area.

FINAL RITES ARE HELD FOR JIM SIMS, 33
   Sgt. Jimmy Howell Sims, 33, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Sims of Lindsay, died Wednesday, Sept. 16 at a marine hospital at San Diego., Calif.
   Sgt. Sims was serving with the marine Corps at San Diego, Calif.  He had undergone lung surgery about 2 weeks ago.  
   Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm saturday at the First Baptist church at Snyder.  Burial was in the Snyder cemetery.
   Survivors, other than his parents, include is wife, Alice Sims and 3 sons, Jimmy, Abner, and Alan of the home; a daughter Jacquita Sims of Arizona and a sister, Mrs. Bob Burkes of Enid  He was buried on 19 Sep 1964 in Synder, Kiowa Co., Ok..  He Died from Massive pulmonary embolus due to chronic pulmonary hypertension.115  Jimmy went to school at Lindsay, Ok.  He joined the Marines and served in Korea.  Jimmy died in the service after his second marriage to Alice Hawley.  He died in Ca at the San Diago Military hospital on active duty.

64.  Portia Jacquita "Jackie" Sims was born on 22 Sep 1954 in Madill, Marshall Co., Ok..  She was living in 1998 in Sulphur, Ok..109  Jackie and Rick went to Houston to get married because that is where Jackie's mom was living and since Jackie was only 17, Wilma had to sign the papers for Jackie to get married.  Jackie graduated high school at Kingston, Ok. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Sociology and History from SOSU at Durant, Ok.   Jackie was a Reserve Deputy in Murray County from 1985 to 1997 and worked for the Murray Co. Sheriff's Office as secretary.  She quit her job there, when her Sheiff retired and went to work as a dispatcher for the Sulphur Police Dept Oct. 1997.

She was married to Richard Alan "Rick" Sites on 1 Feb 1972 in Houston, Texas.85,120  Richard Alan "Rick" Sites was born on 7 Aug 1947.  Rick graduated school at Kingston, Ok.  He served in the Viet-nam war.  After the war and after Rick and Jackie got married, Rick joined back up in the Army as an Operation Readiness Expert.  He was active duty but stationed with the Okla. National Guard at Rick also served in the Gulf War.   Rick retired from active duty in Oct. 1997.  He then went to work as a transportation specialist in the private domain.    Portia Jacquita "Jackie" Sims and Richard Alan "Rick" Sites had the following children:
