Waterways
by: Jason T. McGuire

Spilling waterways equal cliffs of dreams
where you and I once stood to be one
until death do us part.

Trumpets sounded as the carriage cleared the trees
and the guards of love walked you forward to the
altar of passion, where our innocents was lost.

We promised to wait, so we did, making the altar equal more
than just another day of love between to souls.  Once the party died down,
we engaged ourselves into the night.

The altar covered in vines stood the next day,
surrounded by chairs.  Our dreams became reality
as you softly whispered, "I love you" and I realized we were finally one.

We laid down to rest our heads
and we watched the waves crash against the shores of dreams,
protecting our reality as we fail asleep.
