We tend to eschew places of burial,

too quiet, too still.

They seem at times to be surreal.

Most folks dread the going,

not wanting to view the gravestones

row after row... Looking back,

we shouldn't assume this inclination

for gloom was always so.

There was one burial place,

so like a small room,

where loved ones who were left behind

witnessed the heartbreak beauty

---- of an empty tomb.
