How Welcome the Servants

How welcome are the voices
of those who work to foster peace,
putting to silence the chords of discontent
and smoothing the ripples of troubled waters
-- before a storm breaks.

How soothing are the hands of those
who wipe the tears away, spreading sunshine
with their smiles and removing furrows
from worried brows with tender words
-- before a heart breaks.

How beautfiul are the feet of those
who strive to live the gospel, walking softly
through the fields of future harvest and sowing
tidings of salvation, teaching, reaching
-- before a spirit breaks.
