Watch videos on-line!
That's right, you can see a "picture show," a small "motion picture," a type of "movie"--on your computer!  No, you don't have to plug your VCR into your CPU.  You don't have to buy a DVD player.  You don't even have to know what those acronyms stand for!  All you have to do is find some video content on-line, download a player if necessary, and grab the popcorn.  One of my favorite sites to watch is Star Trek's official web site.  Each week, they post previews of the coming episodes.  Of course, if you watch UPN long enough, you'll see the same commercials there, but hey, why not show off your web prowess and watch it on-line?

Usual formats include Avi, Mpeg, and Quicktime (startrek.com's format of choice).  Another type of movie is RealVideo.   Find a variety of video players at the Space Movie Archive.   Some video clips download first, then automatically play.  Some you save and open.  Others play right off the web, with streaming technology that works best with fast modems.  To find more content, just your style, search the internet; you may be unique, but I garuntee that somewhere out there someone has uploaded a video about one or more of your interests!
