Words is from Lee Falks the creator of the Phantom and Mandrake.It has been 60 years since the first comicstrip of the Phantom was publiced, but the seeds began a long way back before that. Lee Falks says that as a little boy he got a long row of europic myths, and legends told to him.It was storys about Gods, brave Vikings, and young Knights.
Just after a couple of monthsafter that Mandrakehad been publiced -and a success- "King Features" asked Falk if he could consider making another comic. He got free hands but to create a hole new different comic heroe,and not to steel an old comic like Flash Gordon, X9, Tarzan, Dick Tracy, etc etc.
The result was Prince Valiant.Lee Falk did some skisses and scripts for it but he didnt think the american people wouldh enyoj it so he trashed the hole projekt down the drane. Two years later Harold Foster brought up the subject again and Prince Valiant was against Lee´s thoughts and thinking a success in the USA. Lee doesnt regret a thing not finishing the serie Valient.He just thinks it is great for Harold Foster.
