I am disgusted by the attitude and reactions of most of the E.U. countries governments and media. For instance,I'd like to inform you (and all friends who are reading me) about the last brilliant idea of the Italian government: two days ago, it has closed the Italian consulate in Klagenfurt and has obliged the Region Friuli to withdraw from a co-operation project (already started, through the incorporation of the company "Senza Confini" to promote tourism and cultural relationship) with the Austrian Land Kaerntner and Slovenia. | Contratulations and best wishes!! I really believe that Dr. Haider and his views and behavior have been misunderstood. If everyone would follow these simple rules, I'm sure he would feel and act better. -when Dr. Haider is out, keep the sheep and other barnyard animals locked up. Just as one does not take Michael Jackson to Disneyland, one should not unnecessarily expose Dr. Haider to his weaknesses. Besides, the animals get terrified. -always take Dr. Haider to shop at the best toupee shop in town. His current one is looking a little ratty, and a new one will certainly improve his mood. -Close the military memorabilia shops before Dr. Haider arrives. The sight of old sweaty SS uniforms and weapons are guaranteed to cause him to lose control and do silly things like yell Nazi slogans and give Nazi salutes. It's just a matter of common sense - you don't show porn films to sex offenders and you don't show Nazi memorabilia to Dr. Haider. -Make sure the local authorities afford him the same dignified treatment they would to other similar international leaders such as Idi Amin, Alfredo Stroessner, the Burmese junta, Serbian war criminals and the like. With these 4 simple rules (and perhaps an electric cattle prod if he gets out of line), I'm sure you will find Dr. Haider to be as well-behaved as any other right-wing fascist. P.S. It's too bad that Dr. Haider had to resign. But, like carrion, the smell was getting too much for decent people. | |

time to translate your website into English for those of us who aren't
fluent in German. I think your party platform is exactly what Austria needs. Indeed, I agree with the gentleman from the USA who made the comment that Europe has been under Communist influence for the last 50 years. And it's long passed time for a change! I was in Germany, on vacation, about 5 years ago. I couldn't believe my eyes when I got to the former Eastern Germany. There were still bullet holes in the buildings from a war that ended 50 years before! The Soviets did NOTHING to rebiuld Eastern Germany after the war. It was horrifying! I will never understand how Europe can be so sympathetic to Communism. What the Germans, Hungarians, etc., had to endure under Communist control was so disgusting, yet modern Europeans, who are so quick to remind the world of the atrocities of National Socialism, seem to close their eyes to an even bigger, longer laster monster. In some regions of the United States (Texas and California) immigrants are 25%-33% of the prison population. Why should taxpayers pay for the rape of their country by outsiders?? | Dear Herr Haider First, I wish to appoligize for my lack of writing skill in Deutsch. My name is Paul Lock. I am an American citizen who enjoys following the news of the world. I am also a strong supporter of democracy around the world. Since I am not a European local I cannot possibly know all the intricacies of the region in general and Austria in particular. As a student of history I do know that terrible things happened all over the world during the early 20th century. While we should all do our best to see that these things do not occur again, we should not let them interfere with the future and the sovereignty of nations. During your last election a section of your people voted for the Freedom Party. As a result of those elections a coalition government came into being. This government apparently disturbs some people. They have the right to be disturbed and to voice their opposition but they should not be allowed to interfere with the democratic process of a sovereign nation. The European Union, the United States of America, Israel and others have attacked the composition of a government of another sovereign nation. The rightfully elected government of Austria is based on one of the tenants that they espouse to believe in most…Democracy. To oppose the results of a democratically elected government because you don’t like the result is hypocritical and just plain wrong. The aforementioned groups are not even giving your government a chance to prove that it can govern it citizens in a democratic manner. They act as if someone was rousting people from their homes and plotting to take over the world. As an American I am appalled at the behavior of these people and wish you and your government all the best of luck. As a resident of Texas I feel that you should stand your ground, come what may. You are in the right by any rational means of thinking and shouldn’t let “sore losers” or so-called “politically correct” individuals overturn legally held elections. To try to change the expressed will of the people is something that independent minded Texans, and I’m sure Austrians, would find repugnant. By the way, I am not alone in my feelings. Zusammen mit den 21 Prozent ÖVP ergibt das satte 50 Prozent Zustimmung zu unserer Regierung, während die linken SP/Grünanarchos auf nur 46 Prozent kommen. Also auch weiterhin keine Chance für den Linksblock auf eine Koalitionsabwahl, die sie doch sooooo gerne hätten. | Hallo liebe Freunde aus Österreich! Ich habe den Aufstieg der FPÖ verfolgt und festgestellt, dass ihre Verurteilung durch die EU unrechtmässig ist. Wieso sollte ein gesamtes Volk unter den Sanktionen der restlichen Mitgliedsstaaten der EU leiden, mit einer Begründung, die sehr zu wünschen übrig lässt. Parteien wie z.B. die Sozialdemokraten fordern doch (mit ihren Grünen Mehrheitsbeschaffern in Deutschland) eine toleranter Haltung anderer gegenüber! Ich habe den Auftritt Herrn Dr. Haiders bei N-TV verfolgt und muss sagen, dass er sich gegen alle noch so kritischen Fragen gut behaupten konnte! | |

| Zur leidlichen Bezügedebatte kann man nur festhalten, dass
akademisch hochgebildete Spitzenpolitiker wie Mag. Grasser oder Frau Dr.
Sickl ein vielfaches verdienen müßten, gemessen an den mindergebildeten
Gewerkschaftsbonzen Edlinger und Hostasch, welche bis jetzt um 210.000.-
monatlich unseren Staat ins Dilemma geführt haben. Damit sollte die ganze dumme Diskussion beendet sein ! Wenn man angesichts des von den Sozis hinterlassenem Finanz-Desaster jetzt auch noch die "Wahlversprechen" sofort einlösen würde, wäre das vorsätzliche Krida und somit strafbar. Aber wartet nur ab, wenn Herr Mag. Grasser den Staatshaushalt saniert hat, werden alle Versprechen eingelöst. | There have been many interesting comments on your Gastbuch
in recent weeks. One thing I have noticed is that you publish every letter,good and bad, and in some cases downright "lunatic". I certainly cannot agree with some of the letters, who are using the site to get across their view,whether left or right. But at least you do let people have their say. But at the BBC London,who hate Austria with a blood red passion!! Try writing a comment on their 'talking point' site or similar and see what happens? They 'vet' every letter or comment and only put on what suits their 'agenda'. I know because I have made many commets on a wide range of subjects in recent months and never seen one every published. I have right wing views (Oh God! He's a fascist! I hear a few shout!!)But no I have conservative views and hate anything that smells of the loony left and communistic bent.I was a prisoner of the communists so I have earnt the right to say my piece,whenever and to whoever.And where did the commies pick me up? On their side of the border from Austria and was their 'guest' for quite some time. I wonder if I gave the BBC the names of my torturers would they hunt them down and insist they are hauled before a 'war crimes' tribunal? No I doubt it! One last thing is that I have received some weird emails after making 'pro Mr Haider comments in the last weeks,needless to say they go straight into the trash can un-read. | Das extrem undemokratische Verhalten der europäischen
Gemeinschaft und Amerikas ist ein Skandal ! Ich schäme mich dafür!
Andererseits ist es nicht verwunderlich, daß die meisten europäischen
Staaten von verfilzten und korrumpierten Sozialisten beherrscht werden.
Die Privilegien und gerafften Pfrunde drohen zu schwinden. Heikle Themen,
welche den Herrschenden unbequem erscheinen, werden mit übler Nachrede,
billiger Polemik und Denuntiation geahndet, 3. Reich läßt grüßen!
Toleranz, die von dieser Seite gepredigt wird, wird in hier ignoriert und
pervertiert. Falsch: Man ist doch sehr tolerant: Man hofiert die PDS,
welche für den Stalinismus steht, der in Ostdeutschland die Menschenrechte
"nur ein bischen" mit Füßen getreten hat und in Osteuropa/Russland für
"nur für ein paar" Milionen Todesopfer steht. Man könnte die Empfehlung, nicht nach Österreich zu reisen, umformulieren: "Leute, reist nicht nach Belgien, dort besteht die Gefahr, daß Eure Kinder selbst von Regierungsmitgliedern geschändet werden". Herr Haider, lassen Sie sich um Gottes Willen nicht klein kriegen. Sie haben mehr Sympathisanten als Sie denken. Ich wünsche Ihnen für Ihre weitere Aufgabe viel Glück und Erfolg. | |
